I'm really not into getting Duchene. Anyone else feel this way? - kfinl170
I don't see Duchene as the best fit with the Pens, but he can play RW as well as C. When I look at:
Guentzel-Crosby-Duchene
I kind of change my mind!
EK is saying, the Penguins are trying to get Matt Duchene…and one source confirms to me that “one piece in that deal is coming from Vegas…” I can only assume the Penguins are getting one of the extra first rounders from Vegas and moving that to Colorado…
That might be the only way to get Duchene, with the Pens 31st pick and another 1st and a prospect the Pens might be able to get him!
GMJR has surprised us before! |

I was thinking in that price range and wingers that they could go after someone like Oshie...but I dont think that's much of an upgrade, if at all. I don know enough about the Hawks roster/cap needs to really say much about how they should spend cap space. To me it seems like losing Saad has hurt them a fair bit. - MattStrat
This doesn't help the Hawks this year, maybe down the road though.
Remember when Saad was going to be seamlessly replaced by Dano? Good times! |

The teams the Pens played in thw playoffs could end up being among the most screwed in expansion.
Nash: Neal
Ott: Methot
Wash: Schmidt (which with their cap situation would be hard to replace)
CBJ: Reportedly trading a 1st to protect certain players while still losing somebody like Karlsson. |

In what world is PIT getting a 1st from VGK? - Feds91Stammer
When GMJR sets his mind on something, he finds a way. VGK likes prospects and picks even 2018 or 2019 picks. I heard one rumor that Vegas had picks lined up from teams from 3 different years (2017, 18, 19). |

Meh not ideal but it isn't like anyone is losing an actual core player. |

I also think it's worth considering that GMJR might be sending Fleury and a pick to get a goalie in return. Maybe instead of a mid round pick for them to take Fleury it is a 2018 1st or 2nd for them to receive a guy like Pickard, Grabauer or Raanta in return?
Not overly likely but I would not at all be surprised if the Pens signed a solid backup for Murray rather than having Jarry step up right away. Having Fleury to back him up certainly paid off this year! |
|
|
|
What makes it a weak condition other than your lack of knowledge on the topic? - Feds91Stammer
yes you got me i know nothing on the topic. Not a computer expert on everything. But I do know behavioral biases and they all indicate he has a good reason to retire right now for himself and the team. So that makes the condition very murky. |

Will agree with you on this. I don't see what piece we can move to get a 1st from VGK. Prospect pool isn't good enough unless we are moving sprong for the 1st. NHL roster we only have sheary and hornqvist to offer for the 1st. Hornqvist could pull the 1st for sure. Sheary as a doubtful. Maybe 2 2nd round picks, but not a mid 1st. |

I'd say Methot at least is. Nashville probably just moving on from Neal a year early, lots of young talent, but they'd probably love to have him for another Cup run.
Schmidt is replacable, but Washington already has so much to replace and he'll probably be at a good cap number so that's a blow to them. |

I mean it is definitely worth investigating but the fact that Hossa was still CHIs 3rd best F makes me think it is most likely a legit issue. |

Methot is not good.
Neal will be replaced by the likes of Sissions, Aberg, Gaudreau, Fiala, and Kamanev.
Schmidt is the best of the 3 but is unlikely to ever get a legit shot with Trotz coaching. |

Schmidt was 2nd pair now. Their depth is Orpik and Chorney. I'm openly rooting for him to get taken.
Think the others had more value then you give them credit for, but agree to disagree. |

Minnesota pick is Haula, already signed. Traded Tuch to make it happen.
EDIT- think Minnesota got off light if that's all it cost to protect Dumba, Scandella, and Staal |

Agree with that. He's pretty much worth his cap hit. That being said he's only getting paid 1 million a year so the player does have a good reason to retire. And hawks would be really in trouble if he retired and they still had to pay recapture. |

Haula is solid and still relatively young and Tuch is a pretty damn good 21 year old prospect. |

Yeah I saw Hossa already earned 94% of his contract so it is sketchy but on LTIR he still gets his money anyways. I don't think it is a matter of him not wanting to play anymore. |

In this crazy season with side deals and handshake agreements who's to say McPhee didn't offer GMJR a late round 1st to keep Fleury on roster instead of trading him to a team where he could be protected and not claimed in the draft. Or perhaps GMJR sends Vegas a 3rd rd pick and their 1st rd pick in 2018 for a late rd 1st rounder this year from another Vegas side deal to package in a trade for a Barrie or Duchene???
Just saying it could happen... |

You just called Tuch a bust on the Wild board.
Those guys are fine, but I'd mich rather have drafted Dumba |
