There is going to be a lot of finding their way and inexperience in the NHL with Antipin and maybe Guhle if and when he plays in Buffalo this year. I'd like to see how Beaulieu plays in his own end before I crown him a regular top 4.
- GilPerreault11

I have a feeling Housley won't be able to resist giving Guhle a spot. If your choice for a D man is Gorges or Guhle, Guhle's gotta be the pick. The only way it doesn't happen is if Botterill forbids it, or we bring in another Dman in FA

Pach, I agree with your end assessment. GMJB needs to do the right things over time, not the expedient things to satisfy some fans who are demanding we make the playoffs this year. If that happens, obviously that's fantastic but we can't keep mortgaging the future for a short term gain. Look where it got us with Murray's maneuvers.

Pach brings up a good point, unless we are getting a true Top 2 d-man for either Kane or Rhino, there is no point in doing a deal. Otherwise it creates a big hole for us in the top 6. One thing is for sure, we definitely cannot trade both Kane and Rhino, otherwise guys like Foligno and maybe even Moulson (!) might make it back into the Top 6.

Lastly, GMJB trade with Montreal is better than GMTM. NB for a third is > Josh Gorges for a second. In a landslide

- SabreWest

Agree ... don't see many changes as JB and PH will want to assess whats here under the new system first

2/3rds production from non 5v5 play for a team that has been brutal since people regularly tracked this stat is all the red flags i need.

If we can't trade for another top4 defenseman...

I'd sign Despres on the cheap as a UFA
He was on track to be a pretty solid defenseman before that nasty concussion

And I'd also see if Edmonton will part with Reinhart for a low round pick
He hasn't really worked out there & might be a bust at this point,
but maybe Housley can do something with him

Neither would cost much in salary
If they don't work out, oh well, no biggie
Maybe they could at least provide us some depth though

Man, I have heard 8+ deals could be in place. Hard to say that is all 1st round picks, but lets say they have 4 1st round picks (if not more!) and their own. I mean, wow!

5 out of 31, 16% of the first round picks? Man will their GM never be given a break if he "passes" on a star player in the draft.

well yea i dont think a healthy kulikov was any good either. i just dont buy the idea that a mid 20's khl d-man is better than jake mccabe.

Sabres suck, everything sucks,
No D-men are good enough to warrant trading for them because they suck too?
There is no hope!

Do i have this correct?

Has this even been an issue at all lately?

You can't pay everyone, and our previous GM decided to give 42 mil to Okposo.

Unless Kane wants 4.5-5 mil per year, on a short deal, there is an almost 0% chance he's resigned.

I'm all for keeping him until the deadline if they can't get much back now

- sbroads24

There's PLENTY of room going forward to sign Kane
This myth that we do t have room is 100% wrong
