Seems like these will be the types of deals he'll pursue this off season
- Sabresfan-365

like I mentioned, i'm not sure a deal is out there for what botts needs right now, and i'm not sure he would have the pieces it would take to get it done even if there was one

If Cale Maker can survive to 8th over all I'd like to see us land him in this draft. Going way off topic but thinking of this with all the trade talk about our first
- lulags

He won't get past the Vancouver IMO, was reading they like him.

Yeah they need much more on the back end in addition if the SABres want to improve. Right now the improvements are marginal at best.
- Larsson_fan

as mentioned in the piece, I think that coaching played a big role in the team struggles, and that applies to the defense as well...

Tying in with what you just posted, Kane wants to stay and will meet with Botterill and CO sometime in July to gauge interest. Now we all know that direction can change.

Pach, I agree with your end assessment. GMJB needs to do the right things over time, not the expedient things to satisfy some fans who are demanding we make the playoffs this year. If that happens, obviously that's fantastic but we can't keep mortgaging the future for a short term gain. Look where it got us with Murray's maneuvers.

Pach brings up a good point, unless we are getting a true Top 2 d-man for either Kane or Rhino, there is no point in doing a deal. Otherwise it creates a big hole for us in the top 6. One thing is for sure, we definitely cannot trade both Kane and Rhino, otherwise guys like Foligno and maybe even Moulson (!) might make it back into the Top 6.

Lastly, GMJB trade with Montreal is better than GMTM. NB for a third is > Josh Gorges for a second. In a landslide

This is very good news if Kane wants to stay in Buffalo. I am all for keeping him. I always assumed that he would want to flee for New York, L.A. or Chicago. I thought he was a big city, bright lights kind of guy.

Why even try to trade for that top D man this year? we still have Bogo and Gorges. Where are they going to play ? Antpin has to get in the lineup also. It just doesn't make any sense to move out Kane, the 8th pick or anything like that unless we can move out Bogo and or Gorges.

Media makes this guy sound like a criminal but yet people think there is no problem bringing in Patrick Kane. Both of these guys have had a few issues but haven't had any in a while now.

Anyone think we should have drafted either SERGACHYOV or CHYCHRUN over Nylander last year since he clearly had a gap in D?
- lulags

It's easy to say that now after bogo kuilkov and friends under-performed. But regardless drafting Sergachyov would have everyone saying how we have no forward prospects now.

GMTM had a good point in an interview... whatever prospect position you draft one year will make the other prospect position appear weak the next year.

Draft; Grigo and girgs->risto, zads->Sam, Jack, alex

I've seen enough of Guile to know he's considerably better than Gorges. Beaulieu had more points than Franson. Antipin is the wildcard, but it wouldn't be hard to have a better season than Kuli.
