Hard pass on Methot. I like him even though his best years are behind him, but he's played with nothing but righties the last few years.

Pretty much relegates him to bottom pair. Highly doubtful already on the downslope they try him on the right. Or move Rielly back to right like when he plays with Hunwick.

To maximize Rielly's potential in my opinion leave him on the left side.

Dumba is the obvious choice out of that bunch. Only Suter and Spurgeon seen more ice time. Not sure what Fletcher is thinking here.

My only issue with Dumba is size. I worry the Leafs are getting too small, especially on the back end. Our goalie is the biggest guy from the blue line back.

But he is a RD who is pretty damn good.

Valid concerns, he doesn't PK so much either so either so high quality vet on the bottom pair would be important still.

Too bad Polak exploded his leg he was looking great against Washinton. The UFA pool is weak.

Funny I said hard pass on Methot, but if Vegas wasn't too outrageous on value, this D lineup would be much deeper. Better than playing with practically 4 defensemen vs Washington once Polak went down.

I'm not crazy about Kulikov but as far as UFA he's a solid choice. Only 26.

They have depth on the wings. Kapanen, Leivo and Soshnikov trying out for the same spot. Bracco coming to the Marlies. Spend some assets and get a young D with upside.

Rosen may be more realistic for being ready to jump right into the lineup.
