I was looking long term.
If you think Hornqvist will break down eventually and/or will become too expensive to re-sign long term as a bottom 6 forward...it might make more sense to trade him now and sign Oshie who can be in the top 6 long term for just a little more money - YouMeAndDupuis9
Pens could have Sheary, Kessel, and Sprong all playing RW next year so they don't need a replacement at RW. |

You think Jordan would be pissed! - Thorny87
Haha..Jordan is probably already pissed.
There should be a big blog coming soon on the 3C situation...we've talked about Galchenyuk, Thorton, Staal, Bozak, Duchene, etc. There are a surprising amount of good options available.

But Oshie is a "free asset" who was often the Caps best player in the playoffs, and plays a heavy game we currently dont have. I would find a way to make it work....especially if we flipped a strength (Right wing, hornqvist) for a weakness (defense, letang insurance) |

Plus there is always the option of Bonino coming back. We all expect him to get big money somewhere else, but if it doesn't happen and he likes it here, he could be right back here as the 3C again. |

After GMJR's comments about size you guys think he might go after Brian Boyle? |

They don't need a RW even if they move Hornqvist, so I wouldn't pay 6M to get Oshie. Use the cap space elsewhere. |

why arn't the penguins in on spencer foo... always go all in for the college players. they are free players and with the penguins most of them are good contributors to the big club. you need all the young cheap talent you can get... another big miss by GMJR.
penguins have a really good development system that gives great reward to college talent so I have no idea why foo is not considering pittsburgh. |

This. Defense is a glaring weakness, especially given Letang's injury history. Go after a guy like Kulikov or take a shot at MDZ. |

Please tell me exactly which team is going to do the defending champions a favor like that for a 7th round pick. - jmatchett383
Just about any one of them. A 7th round pick is a free asset to them. |

If I'm Vegas I'm no doubt taking Mrazek and Fleury to be split starters with the plan being trading Fleury 18-19 season for picks (if not sooner if Raanta or Mrazek does great). Then you have Raanta or Grubauer as a back up after that. That's a great goalie situation. |

Kessel has a higher SCF winning percentage though. - Feds91Stammer
This is why I love/hate selective stats. They are fun to twist around to fit my agenda but are easily used against me. haha |

Don't think any of those guys get through waivers. I'd go Fleury-Grubauer |

MDZ is on my list of bargain targets. Think that might be the route I'd go on the 3rd pairing unless I can find a righty I like.
I want a top pair leffy and a bottom pair righty, yet all the most interesting names are reversed. |

What about a package of Sprong+Rust+1st for Brodie... Would you pull the trigger on that? - j.boyd919
Personally I wouldn't. I don't want to see Sprong traded. I think he has such a bright future and will be a dynamic player for the Pens. |

I'd go Mrazek, Raanta, and Ullmark. Ullmark is waiver exempt. Then you take Schmidt and Rust/Hagelin. |

Does he just want size or someone that plays physical too? Boyle is an average 4C that plays very soft especially for his size. |

I like Ullmark as a 3rd goalie as well. Tough to leave Schmidt there (at least partially for how bad it would screw the Caps), but I like Grubauer better as the long-term guy. |

My prediction is that Schmidt will be claimmed by LV.
LV also will take Fleury. |

You do realize that all the fish in the sea don't just go to "one" location don't you? Many players choose an organization they fit best with or have ties to through someone in an organization, Pittsburgh isn't a fit for every single college player. Not a miss at all by GMJR |
