We're getting either Makar or Glass at 5. No sense in moving up. Tanev is worth an early 1st rounder alone. This is not the draft to sell the farm for 3rd overall. We aren't getting Laine. I don't like it.

Perhaps JB see's Vilardi as having a higher ceiling and thinks he'll be gone by 5, but wants to nab him.

I'm not sure Tanev is worth an early 1st, but a late first and prospect seems pretty good (but i am not a huge Tanev fan personally).

Idk why we make that deal tbh.

If it is Honka or Richardison Tanev for one of those 2 and the 29th is actually a good deal. Outside those two prospects I think it would be under valued. HIntz could be good as well. The way the league is going you kind of need a 1a-1b-2 down the middle.

Richardinson looks like he could dev into a 2c in the league and would be amazing to have as a 3c with how the future of hockey is going.

Tanev is not an easy player to get and thus a valuable asset. Stars desperately need his impact now. Why waste it on a 29th pick and 3rd line prospect and move up 2 spots. It doesn't add the needed value to move him. But the 30A plus prospect is special enough to do it. You could make it more palatable for Stars by taking cap dump goalie. But no more. When the only special asset you got it is traded it better be an impact return.

Glass, without a doubt. Other similar types of defenseman are available in late first,2nd and even 3rd round.
