Benning's list (in my opinion):

Nico
Makar
Patrick
Glass
Petersson
Vilardi
Heiskaenen
Mittlestad

- CanuckDon

Interesting!

Certainly different from any other lists I've seen. Is this JB's wish list (based on need) or a projection of how the draft will unfold?

These pretty much are his wish list players....but you know the order from top to bottom will get scrutinized to death

The key for us is that Heiskanen goes in the top 5. That likely means we get Makar (unlikely he falls) or Glass

So while we wait for trade news and the draft here's a look at aspects of the rebuild process and how it should unfold.

Step 1: trade Tanev for pick and prospect of high quality to stimulate pool.

Step 2: addition by subtraction Sedins retire. Use cap space to either try to sign young replace the UFA's like Kane and Turris. Or if not available take on cap dumps f picks and prospect trades.

Step 3: Find team that would extend Edler convince him to waive as that's his only option and trade for pick or prospect.

Step 4: pump up LE production and convince him going to contender will be better. Take cap hit back and whatever future possible. Opens door for ready Canuck prospect.

Step 5: find team willing to extend Sutter and not on his NT list. Allow drafted C to take over.

The above will take 2 years minimum but it paves the way to insert more drafted players and aquired prospects into line up to upgrade speed and skill.

Makar is intriguing but wouldn't the safe pick be a centre?

summer starts after the draft.

Step 1: trade Tanev for pick and prospect of high quality to stimulate pool. - This word doesn't work for this statement (and please don't use ever again)

Step 2: addition by subtraction Sedins retire. Use cap space to either try to sign young replace the UFA's like Kane and Turris. Or if not available take on cap dumps f picks and prospect trades. - Forcing players to retire? I think we tried that once with Malhotra..

Step 3: Find team that would extend Edler convince him to waive as that's his only option and trade for pick or prospect. - Would he been done already if possible

Step 4: pump up LE production and convince him going to contender will be better. Take cap hit back and whatever future possible. Opens door for ready Canuck prospect. - Name a team that would do this?

Step 5: find team willing to extend Sutter and not on his NT list. Allow drafted C to take over. - Name a team that would do this?

Center is for sure the safe pick...doesn't make it the right pick. I'd be pleased with Glass though

honestly, any pick besides Rassmussen IMO would be a win. With Boeser playing on the team, and most likely Goldobin as well, this pick will instantly become our best prospect (maybe with the exception of Dahlin or Juolevi).

Sounds to me like Glass has been through some heavy stuff at a young age. As unfortunate as that is, It seems to have made him extrememly focused which could play nicely for the Canucks should he drop to five.

Similar to the determination and strength Boeser showed through all of his past hardships.

Thanks for the promotion coach... but I'm perfectly happy playing in the shadows as 2LW.

Makar could make an impact like Karlsson or Doughty.

Glass could be a #1 or #2 C

Time will tell if it is a good pick. If they both turnout, maybe hindsight will show there wasn't a wrong pick.

I still shouldn't be surprised if JB picks a different player.

both players would be strong picks. I have no issue with Heiskanen or Peterson as well if they are off the board.

Hi,

Here's the rundown for tonight's expansion draft. I'm so interested to see how this all shakes down...

You sure know how to stimulate a conversation.

No force necessary when contracts are up The snark was for your Malhota snipe.

Edler would still be young enough to trade and other team sign. If they did it for Bieksa and Hammer, plus Burr, why not him?

With 30 teams out there hard to say but odds are there will be one who could use LE and Sutter. Teams that have difficultly getting free agents like Sens, Sabers, Canes and Jets come to mind.

Forgot about him. Those were just examples. Vegas will lose players when the get to 23 man roster and have to waive some guys,so they may have up to 7 players that they need to move (not counting the additional players they get for taking on a contract)
- Reubenkincade

This....

Once McPhee has done bis extorting then its waiver issues other teams will wait upon. Hard to say what that phase will involve but thats one more phase to come.
LVGK will be fun to see what their final roster & picks amount to.

I still wouldn't do that. If LV traded MAF to Philly and PHI chose to expose McDonald for the 2nd overall, I guess I could MAYBE see LV doing that, but even then...
- Codes1087

MAF waived his NMC to only go to LV.
Mrazek is likely going to Philly.

who the hell would PHI need to protect in order to give up 2OA. I assume it might have something to do with protection and swapping 2OA for 6OA? Still though, that's a huge price to pay considering the players available in the top 2.

yes exactly. Itd have to be steep

I've been bucking for a change from the Orca, to stick n rink or Johnney Hockey.

Or go completely off the board and make the mascot a Sasquatch

- Crazybagoham

except that there are no Sasquatch in vancouver ...youd have to look at mission or harrison for a Sasquatch sighting
