Dallas is looking for D as well, that's why people have suggested Tanev + for the 3rd pick and keep our 5th pick - NorthNuck
Tanev and Van's 2nd might get a 3OA. As seen by Sergachev and a 2nd for Drouin. |

Just to be clear, the trade was.....
Tanev and 5ov
For
3ov, 29ov and an A prospect (d1ckson) - Pres.cup
If this was the trade, I would be fine with it. Dont love the 29th pick, wish it was a bit higher, but a first round pick and a prospect is enough for me to move on from Tanev |

So who would VAN take 3OA in this scenario? |

There were other ridiculous trade scenarios that didn't involve VAN's 5OA. Just look at some of the garbage Dragon was pitching. Totally out to lunch. That's what I was referring to.
What you have posted above is actually somewhat reasonable. - As_I_See_It
Well.... that's your problem... right there...
Im sure you've got your own posters in leaf land that... sometimes... get a little... over zealous |

I don't love the idea of using Tanev to move up two spots... If it was to move into the top 2, I'd be more open to it. I don't see a lot of value in moving up from 5 to 3 unless you absolutely LOVE one of the two top ranked defencemen.
Obviously, there are other pieces involved here, but I don't think Dallas would be offering up as much as people think |

Agreed, the moving up outside the top 2 spots isnt desired. It gets worse when you realize that 29th pick was straight up for Eaves, and the D ickinson is also a 29th overall pick. Neither of those seem like excellent value, but I am not one who likes to sit/wait out for better deals. VAN has a habit of doing so and it not working out well |

Makar is high risk high reward pick.
Something which Benning is against, otherwise he would have picked Keller last year. - classic321
Benning is a HUGE Makar fan. There is very real chance we take him if he slips past Colorado |

the whole Tanev to Dallas for the 3rd was made up by Kuzma. It never had legs. |

Yeah, I just heard an interview with Benning and he gave a pretty direct comparison to Karlsson
If he honestly believes that Makar could be the next Karlsson, he'll need to trade up to 3rd overall cause Makar won't fall past Colorado |

I'm not saying it's going to happen. But it is a fact they are looking for help on D, and that they are willing to trade the 3OA and it is a fact that JB would move Tanev for a good enough deal. |

I must have missed the memo...when exactly did someone anoint you as the individual that decides what a person can value a Vancouver player at.
In this draft, in my opinion, Tanev is worth the 3rd overall, I certainly don't need your approval or validation of how I view things, and either doesn't Dragon |

I guess Kuzma forgot to run it by Toronto fans for approval. |

Even if it is fair value, for the same reason TB didn’t trade Drouin for Tanev, Dallas won’t trade the 3OA straight up for tanev.
A straight up trade like that is just terrible in the long-term. |

Maybe, maybe not, in a weak draft with a particular team requiring a shut down defense man, you never know.
Drouin was traded for a very good defense prospect that plays a different style from Tanev, not all D play the same, not all forwards play the same. |

to me, if benning is looking to move up, then:
Tanev and 5ov
For
3ov, 29ov and an A prospect
is a really good deal for the nucks. |
