Yes many here think he is.
- Makita

Until he is traded, no one is right.

Many people said the Canucks would be lucky to get a 2nd for Hansen & a 4th for Burrows. We will see what value Tanev has a franchise if or when he is traded.

I was about to say, they really come out of the woodworks when you mention the Leafs
- Crazybagoham

Nah, I was told you guys had some crazy Tanev trades proposals, I came for the chuckles.
Nice change of pace from the crazy leaf trade proposals.

Yet, you guys think you can get Dumba from Vegas for your 1st plus a prospect.

It is all spit balling and fantasy, no need for stirring the pot, because one person throws something out there.
Most of us respect how Tanev plays defensively and he makes his partner look better, heck he even made his partner at 20q6 World Championships look good. Not an easy task.

- Reubenkincade

I don't. I think MIN has a deal in place and Dumba isn't going anywhere. I'd love to have him, but it's probably not realistic.

As far as Dumba for a 1st and prospect goes... If that prospect is named Kapanen that conversation at least starts, but I wouldn't be surprised if T.O. had to add a little to that.

Thoughts on trading back in the first round this year (say, into the 8 or 9 spots)? If one of the top 2 dmen fall to 5, I could see Buffalo being interested in moving up. Detroit may be interested in getting one of the better centres (Pettersson?)
- nucks_94

I think if Heineken or Makar are available at 5, they should take one of them

It's a 6th sense that we've developed over the years with some of the abysmal bullpoop and mediocrity that we've had to endure.

It's become a survival instinct.

I am talking about 2018 not this coming year. We are talking about how stupid it would be to extend them
- VANTEL

So.... the upcoming season......
The one were the cup gets handed out in 2018? Right?

With the league shakeup from expansion and the uncertainty some teams will face after losing a player, I really hope Tanev is moved this offseason. It would be Canuck luck to have a team that needs a player like him, hold out for a better deal, and that team find a reasonable replacement within their system or elsewhere for cheap

Also resign the Sedin's!

I agree wholeheartedly, everyone is spitballing about worth, I like what JB did with Hansen and Burrows, and I like the fact he is sticking to what he feels is value.

It's the same with the Sedins, if they come back this season and show they can and still want to play, I'll bet dollars to donuts they will be extended.

But I'll also qualify that with the caveat that Benning and Linden are still here to extend them.

What if Buffalo offered the 8th and 37th picks for the 5th pick because they loved whichever dman was available at 5? We'd get another high second rounder plus we can take whichever centre (Glass, Pettersson, or Mittlestadt) if still there at 8... I guess it comes down to whether Jimbo is set on picking a centre or BPA at 5.

Im starting to think JB takes Makar if he's still there at 5, just because he's probably the most valuable pick out of the top 5 after Nico. I know a team has him rated #1 in the draft, so draft Makar and put his name out there and see what type of nibbles you get (could be a great offer). Or you keep him and get some major skill on the back end.

At the end of the day I really want Villardi though. Glass has dropped too far down to take over Makar/Heiskanen/Villardi

Dumba would be a nice player to have for sure. The bidding war would bring his cost up extremely high (imo).
We couldn't afford it at this stage of rebuild. We are going to suffer a few seasons of pain before we can make moves like that.
In the meantime, we will post our fantasy trades and continue to over-value our players like all the rest of the fansites.

There is that, and how strongly he feels about those C's. I dont have a vested interest in who they pick, and think there are a lot of decent prospects out there. My comments stem from the development duration for D and timing your ELC's/young players reaching big NHL minutes are there right time together.

To me, Edmonton has/had a great top 6 and they've had to trade/overpay/rush together a makeshift D core. Likewise with Colorado. I do not want VAN to be built like either of those franchises

Well if Benning is back along with the Sedins in 2018 there will be no problem finding tickets to a game . The big question will be do you want to go spend 20 dollars to see a terrible product.
- VANTEL

I'll go spend $20 to see a good team play. Just won't be our team I go to watch.

Realistically, poopy drafts year. Tanev, 55 and subban for 3ov is close...

Makar is high risk high reward pick.

Something which Benning is against, otherwise he would have picked Keller last year.

Re: Dumba - Absolutely

Re: Nucks' rebuild - That doesn't fully happen until the Sedin era in Vancouver is over

Re: Posting fantasy trades - By all means have fun with posting fantasy trades that over-value your players, but by the same token, you should also expect others to cut those deals down when those proposals are ludicrous i.e. Tanev for the 3OA, an "A prospect" +++ ... As we've seen in here.

Again, I definitely think Tanev has solid value, I just don't see it as high as others in here do and am/should be free to comment on it without needlessly turning this into a Leafs/Canucks pissing match, especially by guys tuning into the conversation late.

By the way, where the (frank) is Scoob?

Just to be clear, the trade was.....

Tanev and 5ov
For
3ov, 29ov and an A prospect (d1ckson)

Really? I think if the Sedins are extended the haters will pull a DCT and say adios for a year or so . There will be nothing but love and harmony in here to go along with finishing 31 st every year.
- VANTEL

He already said adios to the Haters again last month when they piled on to him and Lefty over their opinions on draft. He hasn't been back posting since and it's draft week his favorite time. Lefty has switched teams and is a visitor in his words. Love and harmony is not the HB way no matter the time or topic.

Thats bad, no way. Forget about moving up 2 spots it's not worth it. We'll likely get who we want at 5. Tanev for a mid 1st and prospect. Johns is basically a 5-6. Quality over quantity please.
- storm88

Unless Van is moving up to 1 or 2, I wouldn't see the point.

Right now rumoured teams to be looking for a D Calgary 15OA, Toronto 17OA, NYR 21OA, Edmonton 22OA, Arizona 7Oa and 23OA.

I wouldn't trade Tanev to Calgary.
Toronto's 17th and a prospect.
NYR van would have to take back a salary.
Edmonton I would ask for JP straight up (not fair for them but price of doing division business)
Arizona 23 and duclair or another prospect not named Strome.

There were other ridiculous trade scenarios that didn't involve VAN's 5OA. Just look at some of the garbage Dragon was pitching. Totally out to lunch. That's what I was referring to.

What you have posted above is actually somewhat reasonable.

Dallas is looking for D as well, that's why people have suggested Tanev + for the 3rd pick and keep our 5th pick

people don't seem to realize Shane Doan wouldn't make any NHL team at this point

- Crazybagoham

Yeah Burrows would never get another contract either. He would have been 7th on Van in scoring playing 15 minutes a night.
