The Jays strength this yeas has been inconsistent hitting combined with inconsistent pitching, and an average, at best, bullpen.
- PatC80

As long as they still employ Joffrey Travis and Nathan Tulowitzki I'm happy. I'd prefer a move for Mark Reynolds and Adam Dunn to be honest

It was still early back in May...when fools were panicking.
They have until July to get on track.

Did you see pillars interview the other day when asked if they would get to .500?

Boy, Shane Doan was drafted by the Jets. Crazy how he's only now leaving the organization.

The Chris Tanev of the baseball world.

To be honest though (Travis aside) the Jays can't complain about injuries when they field a team of that age and history. Like what's the average age? 36?

Yucky yuck yuck. Just wish they had batters with an IQ higher than Jake Gardiner and actually put some value and effort into the pitching side of the game.

And don't forget that brilliant hitting coach, he really has those big guns going. Charlie Lau has nothing on him.

While I agree with you, was at a game on Saturday, where they were facing a really stinky pitcher and couldnt hit for beans. The night before, Jose Quintana, who was 2 and 8 on that barfbag of a team with an ERA of 5 plus nearly no hit the Jays. Not so early to be squandering chances against these brutal teams.
- winsix

They cant hit for crap this year.
They've lost series against bad teams all season.

Soooooo....

This was going to be a smart-ass question, but now I'm not so sure.

Here goes:

Do the Leafs sign Doan for 1 year, so that Matthews can play with his idol?

- Atomic Wedgie

Sure. Leafs sign Doan and Jags to play with Matthews and can form the 2 Gramps and a Kid line.

So we're going to have Doan, Thornton and Marleau?? Their combined age is pushing Shea Weber territory.

I agree with this, as much as I dislike Gallagher for the way he runs goalies at every opportunity, he has heart. This could be said of alot of players. Think of Van Riemsdyk, with his shot and ability, if he had some grit and tenacity, he might be a perenial all-star.
- winsix

I disagree with this. If a Leaf... any Leaf ran goalies and was a persistent douche-bag like Gallagher is... he'd be in the penalty box literally all game. Just look at the treatment that Kadri receives. I don't think he drew a penalty until about 3/4 of the way through the season.
I'd rather have JvR with his hands around the net ... than a guy who survives in the NHL by being shorter than most d-men and goalies and therefore gets sympathy. No thanks.

Just imagine if Darcy Tucker attempted to do what Gallagher does?

A little before my time. The players look like they're not wearing any equipment. I recall Salming playing for the Red Wings at the end of his career. He paved the way for Swedes. Excellent defenseman. Teams used to hammer the crap out of him. He kept on going though.

I hate him too, getting away with the maximum without getting a penalty is a winning stategy. It worked years ago for a guy named Bob Gainey. He was a master at clutching grabbing, tackling and not drawing a penalty. Also won a few cups in an era where few infractions were called, especially in the playoffs. Don't like it but its reality. Look at Ottawa this year, made it to the Semi Finals with a sh!t team because they got away with a thousand penalties.
