I'd try and move up to 3. His name is Miro, so a great Sabres name, and he's Finnish and they make great defensemen. Although his size is a bit worrying.

Edit: It was definitely Makar. None of the other names stand out. They weren't sold on him. That he was overrated.

I hear ya. Getting Beaulieu for a 3rd round pick was a great trade. Unless GMTM made it. Then it would've crippled them.

Sportsnet final ranking has Makar sky-rocketing to #4. Out of 10 pro scouts ranking, 1 scout had him #1 (really) and nobody had him beyond #7. You must be confusing Makar with someone else. As 89 says, he won't be there for us at #8.

Draft will be pretty interesting to me. D-men of course will be the big focus for the Sabres. Heiskanen seems to be unanimously tops and won't be falling to 8.

Makar and Liljegren are the next grouping and it's unclear which, if any, will be available. Either one would be fine with me. Makar has the offensive upside and Liljegren seems more well-rounded.

If both are gone, thats when things get interesting. Do we trade down and take Brannstrom, Foote, or Valimaki? How do you guys rank this group? And what kind of return can we expect for trading back to the mid-teens?

If the top three D are gone and Tippett was there at 8, I'd be very tempted to take him and hope to find defense in the 2nd.
