Vegas don't even have a full roster yet and they're already abusing the Islanders.

Raanta has more value as a trade chip than a backup to me, we can fill his position but won't replace his value on the trade market - KreiderBomb
But if Vegas take Raanta, then Grabs, Fast, and Lindberg are safe. If you trade Raanta pre-expansion, sure you get value back, but then you're definitely losing another valuable player for free. You yourself have proclaimed the importance of Grabner's speed. In your scenario, great we get value for Raanta, but definitely lose another valuable piece for free. I agree that Raanta has the most trade value, but the other 3 are more important and less easily replaced. I'd rather give Vegas 4 options and hope they take the one that stings the least. If they end up taking a skater, we can still trade Raanta for value. And just because Gorton didn't pull the trigger doesn't mean he "got scared" as you put it. Maybe he didn't see enough of a return for his offers. |

#wishfulthinking - 21peter
I don't know a lot about Murphy I'll be honest. All I know is I don't think Stepan value is very high right now, I want him traded for other reasons then most ( not production), but I still don't know if it's a great idea to get less then value for him or just trade him for trading him. Because you create a glaring hole at center trading him, as bad he was last year you still do create that and years moving forward |

Someone wants him moved for lack of production? Probably the last of my problems with Stepan. |

Yesterday you was in the clear; Jimbo was your bff. You're (frank)ing it up again. Wouldn't surprise me if you're back to be disliked again tomorrow... - 21peter
I look at it like Raanta could be a starter/great trade chip.
Lindberg could be a 3c with 2c potential.
Grabner has scored 30+ had 27 last year and his speed is elite.
Fast is what he is, a 4th line grinder that has a career high 10 goals, and I believe 4 or 5 of them that season were empty netters. Add to that his offseason surgery, I just don't see them wanting him. I could be ecstatic if he was the one chosen, but I don't see it. |

The only "trade" of Raanta that would make sense is to Vegas with something else they would want (draft picks?). This would only be done if the Rangers wanted this to happen and if Vegas notified the Rangers of their potential selection. In the end, if Raanta was the player Gorton was hoping to lose, then they'd make the trade to hopefully keep Vegas from changing their minds later and selecting a player the Rangers don't wish to lose.
This "trade" would act as the Vegas selection of a NYR player and thus the Rangers would not lose anyone else on Wednesday. |

I am really shocked at how nuts this expansion draft has made the fan base in general.
I really thought everyone just realized we were going to lose a player and move on LMAO

I could only imagine what everyone would act like if this was the early 90's and the league introduced Ottawa and Tampa Bay to both begin playing games the following season. Rangers would lose two players |

They should have just left Hayes unprotected and there would have been no issue. Then I could be the 1st Vegas poster |

Talbot was a great trade chip too tho and they didn't get much. Fans perception and actual GM perceptions are way different. Backup goalies are probably the least valuable on a team if you ask a GM. Just because they want someone as a number one, he isn't a number one whenever your trading for him. Basically the team getting the goalie has the other by the balls imo
AND I still don't get what you have against Fast as a player, he may be the best fourth liner in the leauge. And it's AVs fault he puts him on the 3rd line not his. But I agree I don't think Fast goes |

just think of how the Black Hawks feel right now.
They traded Raanta to the Rangers for Ryan Haggerty
