How is it that you know he failed to get anything done? If he has reached some sort of agreement with Vegas, or anybody else for that matter, we (you know, the people who REALLY don't know anything) won't find out until the dust settles.
It amazes me how many people truly think that being a pro sport GM is as easy as picking up a phone and telling someone the trade you want to make. This expansion draft scenario is as complex as anything I can think of ever seeing before. That's why I've resigned myself to just waiting to see what happens. Way too many ways this could go down. Enjoy the suspense of what could be and why certain decisions are made.

Trading them our first 1st round pick since 2012 is not a good move either

Say we could have made a deal or Raanta and Step for say Domi, Murphy and Domingue, we wouldn't have to protect Domi thus opening a spot for your choice of Grabs, Lindberg or Fast and it would also be an easy choice of Murphy over Holden, I think that's where Gorton failed

the Rangers, and every other team were REQUIRED to expose a goalie with a certain amount of NHL games played in the expansion draft, if they traded Raanta to get "assets", they wouldn't have been compliant.

MY GOD WHY CANT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS

It's a no brainer if we lose Grabner it will hurt more then anyone imo. When we lost Hagelin people said his speed was very noticeable when it wasn't there and we got Grabner and that speed reentered the lineup. Plus he was arguably the best player game to game this playoffs. I love Fast and Lindberg but I think you can find a player like them more then you could a Grabner. Backup goalies come out of nowhere sometimes and the coach Allaire seems to bring the best out of guys so im not to worried there. I was hoping holden would go but that won't happen. Either way tho I think we get hit pretty hard no matter who it is as they are all solid selections for Vegas

I'm surprised Vatanen and Dumba are exposed

I wanted Bickell and boy was I wrong lol

Your right tho, fans have 0 patience. None. Nada. Our GM hats are always on but it's simply never that easy

- Slimtj100

I rarely get so focused on making one particular trade but this made too much sense, Arizona is very interested in Step, they just traded their #1 goalie for a journeyman who is clearly not their plan for the future, I'd put very good money they are gonna get a goalie from Vegas after the draft, if it's Raanta I'm gonna flip

We understand it very well, Domingue is a goalie, do you understand that?

I can't say I agree, TJ. Grabner's speed was important to this team, no doubt. But, we have players that can allow us to play that same style if Krieder decides to be a player). And he missed the net more than I do! Miro is right that his stock will never be higher, because I don't see him scoring anywhere near 30 again. Hope I'm wrong, but I'd be surprised.
As for Lindberg and Fast, Oscar doesn't look like he's going to set the league on fire, but he also looks like he can easily be an important member of this team for a long time. Good defensively, on draws, IQ, skating, starting to drive the net and score a little more often. And Quickie, yeah there's not much flash, but he's as steady as they come. To me, he's like a Dom Moore with more upside. And, you don't win the Player's Player award two years in a row if you're just another 3rd or 4th liner. That speaks volumes to me.

I'm the leader of Fast fan club you don't have to sell me on him.

I just think perhaps maybe Grabner finally lived up to the draft status he had. He had chemistry with linemates and that speed is just boner worthy. I do think if Vegas selects him he wouldn't be half the player there. He is perfect in the ranger lineup imo

Grabner having to move up the lineup for injuries and subpar play is part of what is wrong with the team. Sure it's great to have a guy like Grabs to fill in here or there but he was signed to be a 4th liner/ PK

Well, honestly you have put together a pretty reasonable scenario. But, maybe Gorton put that forward and Arizona said, "(frank) you. You aren't getting two of our top prospects for a fat, bald guy who makes too much money and can't skate or win draws."
Now, I don't feel that way about Step personally, but I'm trying to make a point. And that point is that WE DON'T KNOW poop ABOUT WHAT GORTON HAS OR HAS NOT DONE. So, getting angry and snippy with one another on this site is really quite pointless and on some levels, a little sad.

LMAO

ok, so I am just gonna go through this again. Even if they got a expansion compliant goalie back in a trade for Raanta...

if they traded Raanta, then the Rangers would definitely lose Grabner, Fast or Lindberg.

So, we'd lose Raanta because we traded him and then Grabner, Fast or Lindberg too.

WHY IS IT BETTER TO LOSE TWO GUYS INSTEAD OF ONE?

Why isn't the best thing that Vegas just takes Raanta and we move on? why is it better we lose two of them? LMFAO

somebody tell me I am not going crazy

I do not like what he has done so far, either. Granted there is not much to have done until after the expansion draft, but I feel the wrong guy got bought out last week. I can only think there is some interest in Staal somewhere.

Let's see what happens after Wednesday up to June 30th to fairly grade Gorton.
