The salary cap saved both Sather and this franchise in those days under Tom Renney, who replaced him as head coach more than halfway into the 2003/04 season, and blended his "kids" in well into beginning this recent decade's success for the most part.
Otherwise, there may have never been anyone from a Girardi, Callahan, or even a Hank here in the first place, had Sather continued to have been able to do what he said while being with Edmonton, and what he did spending wise prior. Arthur Staple it is believed is reporting that the Isles have made a deal with the Knights, in trading their first round pick (#15 overall), and Grabovski, so that Vegas selects Kulemin in the exp. draft.
Darren Dreger also stated on TSN's Toronto outlet, that they will also make a "major move" for a top 6 forward in the next week, which may involve Hamonic being part of the bait, as EK's blog showed today their interest in Duchene of the Avs with Hamonic being a name to leave.

Whatever it is I hope for the sake of seeing the isles blog implode, they take either Nelson or Strome after Snow gives them a 1st.

Thanks, Jim. I just saw another update, & updated my post to begin as, "Arthur Staple it is believed ...".
Had that deal taken place, then how would Vegas have ever considered taking over Staal's contract (if he would have agreed to waive his NMC), in a trade along with only our lower 21st overall pick, as that rumor was a couple of weeks ago?
On that other matter, I never heard Dreger speak at all today on the TSN Toronto outlet. I believe that rumor was circulated around via Chris Nichols today.

As Jan mentioned earlier in not the exact words, McPhee has the advantage right now, but the league's GM's will make up for it in the future when he tries dealing with them. That future may be as early as after all of his selections are made tomorrow.
