Isn't Shipacheov (or whatever how it's written) their penciled #1 centre?
- Scabeh

Ya they signed him that's right! But number one not sure? I guess they'll be looking at the list and see who they possibly trade for and free agents are available!

Vegas could do well to pick a guy like Lehterä to be their second line centre behind Staal.
- TheMussel

Isn't he good defencivly too? I guess it depends on how the trades go?but your right he could be at lead a 2nd? St.louis fans would know

With what's available! And who knows what trades might happen? George knows that this is his only chance to be in a unique situation and he must take complete advantage! This team will be competitive! Their going to have better goaltending, a better dcore and more skilled forwards than Vancouver! Not to mention way more picks/prospects Vancouver are the only ones that I can think of! which is sad for the shape their in, but its good! because Vancouver is rebuilding!

Absolutely! I agree ! It sounds like I was picking on Vancouver for sure but their a mess with no elite players! And i cant think of a team with no elite player !.They have some good players !but they need to Finnish bottom 5 for at least 3 years? Or until they can draft an elite center! Cause their ain't any in the next couple of years by the look of things!but if they can get Dahlin that's a huge start!

GM's who were/are losing really good players are extremely pissed and frustrated that other gms were going to reap the benefits obviously including Vegas! They don't want to lose these players they've been developing and are a part of their future! So their giving up 1st rounders and possibly non protection players, to do so
- MR.Hunter

Like I've said a 1,000 times...

The NHL (frank)ed this up royally by giving LV WAAAAAAAY too much leverage and allowing them to hold teams hostage and essentially extort assets via creative and roundabout means.

There's no way Vegas should have been given the freedom they have.

I found James to be very arrogant, over-opinionated and full of himself. He favours certain students over others and tries way too hard to be their buddy. He constantly interrupts students' during their presentations. Which I have never experienced before from any teacher. If I could have switched classes I would have in a heartbeat!

Yes I agree! And I know why the did it so they can be competitive right away and player marketing! They don't want a phoenix situation on their hands! This is a big deal for the nhl and the networks and sporting world is definitely watching!

Precisely...

26 of the 28 teams existing in the league at the time of the draft were each allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards.

Teams should have been allowed to protect more players... WITH the rookie exemptions.
