I think it makes more sense for LV to ask for a specific prospect to be included in order for them to take player x from a team, as opposed to getting picks (even if 1st rounders).

e.g. LV takes Plekanec (6mln) if Mtl sends them McCarron or Fucale
LV takes Dustin Brown if LA sends them Kempe
etc.

LV needs to worry about AHL roster as well I understand, so makes sense to get some good prospects and other players that don't need to go through waivers pre-season.

And we should be happy we had more players to protect and actually had to expose some talent. Look at the Habs - protected Shaw - $4 million for 29 points, for five more years . Most teams would be happy to lose squid bait like that.

I found James to be very arrogant, over-opinionated and full of himself. He favours certain students over others and tries way too hard to be their buddy. He constantly interrupts students' during their presentations. Which I have never experienced before from any teacher. If I could have switched classes I would have in a heartbeat!

true. they won't end up with 30 players who have to clear waivers. they'll be a few deals with that concept.

i think i've seen rumors of up to 7 side deals already in place; but who knows.

Bergevin would look too foolish giving away 2 2nd rounders and not protect Shaw I guess.

Doesn't mean it's smart to protect him over Hudon but at least the man is logical in his moves....
