4 goalies? - vancity787
When a team comes looking for a goalie you collect draft picks . Calgary still need a goalie . |

So it's consensus then, Vegas will win their division. - golfingsince
The pacific isn't nearly as good as it used to be, so its definitely possible, depending on how well they are coached |

Strome could end up being a top line winger as well, Vegas has so many options...I hope they reject these 1st rounders and take Brodin/Vatanen/Strome with the 6oa that's a really good start.
Anyone else slightly jealous of Vegas's clean slate? - Crazybagoham

I think Benning needs to swing for the fences. This is his last year in office and he has a C- report card.
He has done very little to improve the team . He went from a playoff team first year to 2 bottom 10 finishes and will be in the bottom 10 this year. This is the exact opposite of want you want from a new GM .
His TDL record is abysmal . He has traded 2 expiring contracts in 3 years and I doubt he will trade any this year.
The clock is running out on JB - VANTEL
Whether it's because the Sedins had numerous years left or the Owners nixed a rebuild, the proper direction started atleast 3 years too late. What JB has done trade wise has been pretty good. He is just now going into a draft with multiple early rd picks. Just having a 2nd rd pick period is nice! The thing is, our extra 2nd had nothing to do with him
I'm afraid he is going to load up on some good prospects and not be around when they hit their stride in the NHL. Whether that's fair or not, usually how it goes.
I'm aware you're not a JB fan. I'm actually ok with him. Winning the lottery (top 2) next year will go along way in buying JB some more time. But, let's not worry about that now. Cause we know the likely result. |

I don't know what you mean by "swing for the fences" but I certainly think he needs to aggressively pursue draft picks. |

Once Vegas has chosen their team and the Entry Draft has been completed. Is it safe to say 1040 will have this as their pole question:
Who will win the Stanley Cup first?
Vancouver
or
Vegas

the sad part is, as I've mentioned a few times, they could be better than the Canucks right off the hop. |

I liked JB . I am judging him on his performance not my personal feelings.
His team is declining and he hasn't put his personal feelings to the sid to make the huge moves that are required.
If you look at Chirelli or Bergeron they have made big balls moves . Not all moves are home runs but they are active and at least swinging. |

Swing for the fences are moves like Tanev for a top 5 pick or a move for Galchenyuk or Landeskog
Moving at least one high profiled expiring contracts at TDL for a first round pick
He has nothing to lose. 29 th spot is hard to fall downwards. |

4 Goalies with not a lot of trade value. If people wanted those goalies so badly they wouldnt be exposed.
Meaning they likely already tried to get something for them but the market suggested their worth was less than exciting.
Thats how I see it anyways. |

I agree, just to some swing for the fences means trade youth and picks to try and compete now. That I do not want to see. |

Chipet jumped on a team that won a lottery. Hall was an issue that needed to be dealt with.
JB just needs to acquire more prospects and picks. Not trade them. Of course the team is bad. the core got old and took time to rid all the NTCs. I wanna see how many pics JB adds for next years draft. |

They would carry two goalies . If there was a bidding war they could collect two third round picks . If not they can send them to Chicago Wolves |

Canucks are not the only team in this situation Det NJ LA and others are the same as us.
To get picks you need to trade players , something Benning is very reluctant to do .
Chia did make a big balls move with the Hall trade but you forget things like he took Lucic Kassian Maroon and his drafting has been excellent and I am not referring to McJesus |

The Canucks have 4 goalies, we had 5 when Miller was still under contract. |

I don't consider Lucic 7 years at 6 mill or 7 at whatever it is, a good signing. Just like Eriksson here.

I know Vegas likely has side deals, but man they could build a decent team just by picking from that list:
Neal - Shipachyov - Marchessault
Cammalleri - Nelson - Dano
Raffl - Lehtera - Anderson
Chiasson - Gaunce - Nestrail/Condra
Manson - Dumba
McNabb - C.Miller
Oullett - Van Riemsdyk
Marincin
Fleury
Raanta
Was tough to pass up on De Haan in favour of Nelson, I'm 50/50 on that but otherwise this would be a hell of a start to an expansion team. Can always flip the expiring contracts at the TDL for picks(James Neal).
They could also sign Radulov or Oshie to play RW with Ship and move everyone down on the pecking order. But if I were them, I'd avoid signing any long-term UFA's. Ideally I'd draft De Haan over Nelson and sign a center like Eric Staal. |

No way, he's much young, gives that physical element that few in the league can, plus, he almost doubled Eriksson's point totals. Yes he played with two great centres but he still achieved his career average in points.
It may look bad in four years but right now it's fine. When he's Eriksson's age his contract will only have two years left, not five. |

True except the only difference is Lucic is 2 years younger scored 23 goals not 11 .Lucic had 50 pts not 24 . Lucic fought and protected McDavid . Lucic battled hard and caused sh1t in fron of the net while Eriksson scored on his own net.
Aside from those minor details it looks like an even signing |

I hope so. More likely we deal a D if we don't lose Sbisa |
