Not sure why some are so upset with JB's tenure thus far. With the talent he has acquired I think he has done a decent job. You can question some of his trades but at the time they seemed like good deals. I still believe management interfered at the trade deadline a few years back but this year I didn't hear too many complaints. Unfortunately 2015 set us back.

Drafts has been pretty good. If you can get 2 to 3 out of 7 per year that have potential to make the nhl I would say that is a success. 2014: Virtanen ? Demko and Tryamkin. 2015: Boeser, Brisebois, Gaudette not mention Zhukenov and Jasek. 2016: Juolevi and Lockwood.

If anything negative it's been the signings JB has made. Sbisa's, Dorsett and Sutter that come to mind.

I'm ok with not moving Tanev. I can see why management would be hesitant to move him even though his value is pretty high. There's no one to fill the void at this time.

I don't think there is a need to make bold moves but make smart ones
...build in the draft...sign decent ufa's that might get you return at the tdl. Build your prospect pool then go from there. Try to picture our roster 3 years down the road...it's looking pretty good. Have faith Canucks fans, even though tough times may still be ahead...me thinks rock bottom has passed.

I really don't care what he does . I know next year I will be still working at the same job I am now . I am not certain he will be doing the same job. His contract is up and I don't see him getting extended.

He hasn't drafted one player yet in the three years that has played a full year. He has finished bottom 5 in two of the three years and will most likely finish bottom 5 again this year. His first year draft is almost non existent anymore aside from Demko.

His dealings with the young prospects been sketchy JV McCann Tryankin .

His top draft picks have some asking did he really just pick him ? OJ JV

I guess I have a different opinion of what a decent job is .

No, Demko looks like he will be a solid starter for us one day.

Do you think he has what it takes to overthrow Miller in 2022?

Meh. revisionist history.

He publicly stated that his initial goal was to fill the void of young players on the team in their early 20s or something...traded picks to do so (Sven, Granlund, Vey, Gudbranson, etc).

Since then he drafted JV and OJ who are in the minors or AHL...that does not mean fail. That's where they belong.
Just because he didn't draft McDavid or Laine who made the jump to the pro's does not mean he has not done a good job.
I think he's done fine with his brief.

McCann hasn't done poop in the NHL, being rushed into the NHL doesn't count. Virtanen hasn't even established himself as a legit top 6 AHL'er yet and it's been 3 years since he's been drafted.

Tryamkin is the only one who looked like a decent NHL player.

I blame Benning for not stepping in when the coach, little Willie, didn't play the poop outta Tree when they clearly weren't going anywhere. But that's just me and my hatred for that dumbass

I don't know what you are trying to convince me about ? Do you think thowing out some opinions is going to make me change my mind?

He should have started a rebuild three years ago and he hasn't yet begun . He gets a C- from me.

If they want to played third line minutes for 2 shmill over 1-2 years. I could care less.

As if that would ever happen.

A leadership presence with the young guys would be great. But that would never happen.

This team wont be ready to compete for 4-5 years anyways. having them on the roster wouldnt hurt the team, but really wouldnt benefit them a whole lot either.

Picking Virtanen is a clear fail when there were better choices to be made. Revisionary or not, you're judged on your record and he wasn't the best choice, clearly, if they'd have done there homework on the kid. Where was his vision on team building back then?

No, I actually like him the best(arguably has higher offensive upside than Bo). But until he proves it, we can't really say for sure.

Calgary thought the same about Sven when he ripped it up for them, look where he is now. On a bottom-feeding division rival's 2nd line.

I like Lockwood/Gaudette as well, but we'll see how they transition into the pros.

His first draft was good. Virtanen-McCann-Demko-Tryamkin-Forsling. 5 NHL players in any draft is great. 2 is acceptable. Yes, Virtanen was a bad pick and two of those players are with other teams. Doesn't change the fact that it was a solid draft.

Idk bro but firing JB & replace with whom?
Easy enough to say he does very little but it was a mess he inherited.
Draft wise he has done a solid job albeit top picks r still a waiting game.

How the hell was it solid?

JV = horrible pick
McCann = questionable at best, hasn't proven (frank) all in the NHL and Pastrnak went right behind him
Demko = jury is still out, great college career, been up and down in the AHL
Tryamkin = great pick in the 3rd
Forsling = great pick that late, but clearly not a guy that Benning was really high on

I'd say it's an average draft at best right now if you consider all things.

Demko, Tryamkin and Forsling were all good picks give me a break. McCann was average. That's still a good draft.
