The funny part is, I know you're serious, which makes it all that much more enjoyable for me knowing I annoy the crap outta you lol. - LeftCoaster
No you are wrong, I actually enjoy your posting. You are all over the map, but I agree with some of your opinions and go what the F on some.
I personally try to keep a level thought process and I also try to be realistic in my assessment of Canucks players, and we have that in common. Except I will not use hindsight to change my opinions on JB or players who were selected.
Edit: I will also post something contradicting just because of the drama here with the going flavour of the day.

Some of the moves I have really liked from JB are Goldobin Dahlen Boeser Gaudette Tryamkin Granlund Sutter Demko and Gudbrandson.
I am excited to see how that turns out down the road |

Development is an organizational plan, do I think Benning as the GM is responsible for the outcome of the organizations prospects, you're God damned right I do.
I know someone in the Wings organization and Ken Holland is responsible for how Detroit develops their prospects, people within the organization follow it to a T! - LeftCoaster
Thats right. Coaches boss is his GM & anyone thinking otherwise is a fool.
Very few coaches get full control & thats a fact. |

I don't like calling it hindsight, you're judged on your successes and failures both professionally and personally. If you can't judge Benning on his past what are people basing their opinion of him on?
For the record, I was never a fan, and I've said so many many many times on here

Willie had full control. Unless Megna being on the top unit PP for the entire season was a management decision? |

And Willie was let go and still without a new job for those exact reasons |

Before the Tryamkin fiasco you would have given a B and next week if could be an F or C+ |

yesss, but obviously JB allows his coach control over those types of decisions?

I've heard about 10 different GMs on the radio in the middle of the season ,middle of the weekday ( I remember Holland being on Tim and Sid) and they will say yaaa I checked for trades like 2 weeks ago but its been pretty quiet, so I try to make it to games. And they never sound rushed for time.
Sounds like a full schedule
A gm will make a callup, some trade calls, but if everything is running smoothly, they won't be busy - Crazybagoham
You're right. GM's do diddly-squat but make a couple of half-assed phone calls about trades and have some beers with some scouts to toss some names around for the draft that is happening whenever. Simple. |

Well, has Jim Benning's (supposed) hard work paid off yet?
Maybe he should run like that, why do you think Holland hasn't been fired in 25 years? He allows people to do their jobs, and kicks back and takes the heat. |

I don't know what you are trying to convince me about ? Do you think thowing out some opinions is going to make me change my mind?
He should have started a rebuild three years ago and he hasn't yet begun . He gets a C- from me. - VANTEL
You're judging him with a set of parameters that he was not working with, so it is bound to disappoint you.
If you view it given what he had to work with, you might see it different.
that's all .

If JB did allow him to do that Willie would still be part of the club. |

Egocentric & screwed himself. |

He's 112 days into the rebuild. |

I've seen it from all sides. I know some here think I have an issue with JB. I absolutely don't. I think his contract is up ,time to find an upgrade. He did good and screwed up some things.
As I said it is only my opinion but I think the only way he keeps his job is by winning a blockbuster.

I agree with you there. I think the organization stinks top to bottom, and its not JB making most of the decisions. We need a GM that can actually make a trade, though. JB is too hesitant to be useful to us anymore. Plus every GM knows they can outtalk him, and knows exactly what he wants. He doesn't know how to play the game. |

Not true at all if you look back two years. His first draft I was excited, however, he lost me during his first year. |

I don't think anyone outside of JB's family would care if he was let go and an upgrade was brought in.
I just think it's unfair to judge him on the number of draft picks playing full nhl seasons when he's publicly stated that his first goal was to shore up the young nhl players and then he'd focus more on developing draft picks (which usually means letting em develop in the minors). |

My take is once again this season will decide his fate.
The roster turnover & NMC's & NTC's ftom the GM regime r nearly gone.
5yrs is a fair time but in our case it had mitigating problems.
With TG coaching we will see a different team on the ice & i think a better systems approach with the kids getting more breathng room. TG will hold all accountable but yet not as rigid as WD. A new refreshing approach will come IMO. |

I don't blame him for drafting JV I was hoping he drafted JV . I do blame the organization for not following up on their million dollar investment and not calling him into the office and ask him why he turning into the town drunk and McDonalds favorite golden boy. I do blame Canucks for the Tryamkin fiasco. Make him feel part of the club and feel at home. He had more upside than any Canuck prospect in the last decade . |
