I knew Jultz had the potential... unfortunately it wasn't ever going to be in Edmonton. If Jultz came in now with the team we have in place, things would be different.

Don't assume. I wasn't a huge fan of the trade value wise...but like a sensible fan and not a homer spazz, I took a wait and see approach. Larsson proved to be a decent top pair D in my eyes, and Moreno importantly provided depth, keeping guys like Nurse from having to play over his head.a year later, I'm ok with the trade.

As I have always maintained....I don't think PC is the wizard , and am unwilling to blow him, unlike you all , but I will give him credit when he deserves it.

He's a good #3 shut down guy. That's what I said when the trade was made and that's what he proved to be. He didn't magically become a great two way guy as most on here said he would. He has zero offensive ability. And if it wasn't for secondary assists he would really be hurting for points.
And the trade value is and always was way off. Bad asset management as usual from PC. I always said I was ok with moving Hall but it had to be fro a true #1. We didn't come close to that.

But you all on here just make up your own narrative to suit your arguments...

I don't think PC is a "wizard" but he's been the most competent GM that this team has had in the last 10 years.

I curse him for that horrid Reinhart trade and I cursed him for the Larsson trade. However a year later that Larsson trade looks good and Klef / Larsson are a solid top pairing.

PC was nominated for the best GM in the league this year, so I mean if people praise him a little they cant be THAT far off from reality. Whether you think the trade was fair value is irrelevant. Our team got better, our defense got better, and our offense was still arguably better. There is no losing in that scenario in my opinion.

He's successful because he's playing where he should be. On a 3rd pairing and on the power play time. We never did that with him here and he competed about as hard as Eberle. Good on him that he doing well but he needed to go, just like Ebs will right away here.

I really don't think veteran UFA's worry too much about whether a team traded away a sophomore to make room for a better player. They understand it's a busy Des and the goal is to ice the best team possible . Most if not all care about winning, locations and cash. The rest is just imaginary petty bullpoop.

I think it's less about veteran UFAs and more about college UFAs. We've been able to tap into that market lately due to the team's willingness to leave a spot somewhat open for them (and the McDavid effect). If we were move Benning so soon after he chose to come here, we might negate some of the appeal for players choosing to come here. I think that's more what he meant.
