What? Are you (frank)ing daydrunk again?
I think we have seen how much more valuable to a team the center position is than the wing. Plus with Leon being able to switch between the two positions it makes Eb's even more expendable for someone cheaper to play RW - leonkennedy
I bet we can finally be an equally solid 3c for half the price as Nuge. |

maybe they do rip it up... but then our defence is still a tire fire and we're back in the lottery - Reveen.
How do you know? Maybe an add like Demers would have worked just as well. We will never know. |

Yup! We can never know which version of the team would've been better or if Demers actually would've signed with us. Therefore, neither side of this debate can prove their version of the Oilers would be better and is no more right than the other. We can also argue the value of Hall relative to Larsson all we want, but the market dictates that and we don't know what else was out there.
Does this mean everyone (not just you, Iggy) can just drop it and stop using it as fodder for the perpetual repetition machine that is this thread? |

The only reason I bring it up is because for some reason dingalings keep calling me the Chia hater, MacT lover, Larsson hater...etc...I guess that happens when you don't have the exact same opinion as the majority. |

Not blaming anyone in particular. Saying in general that we've beaten it to death and there's no sense continuing to bring it up whether to debate its merit or to be used as ammunition to call someone a moron. |

Well, we will have lots of time to rip Chia to shreds over the next few years. Hopefully he gets us a championship and we won't have to. |

(frank), McPhee is gonna have more assets with value in 24 hrs than the Oilers did in 2009. |

They still need to win a lottery in the next few years to find that #1 centre to build around. |

If I'm Chiarelli I offer up something nice to Vegas to flip us Dumba. |

They don't have to win a lottery to become competitive; that's just the Oilers. They figure to see at least one of Glass, Vilardi or Mittlestadt available at their pick this year. |

Who cares, really. I don't see what difference it's gonna make. All GM's have the same agenda, hatin a guy isn't gonna stop you from making a trade that improves your team. |

Their willingness to do so will likely depend on what their deal with Anaheim is. If their deal is to only leave Manson alone and getting Vatanen, then I could see them entertaining a Dumba trade for a return like Eberle or RNH (additions would depend).
If the other rumors are true and the deal is to keep both Manson AND Vatanen in Anaheim, then I think McPhee would likely keep his only major offensive threat on the blueline and we could be stuck with a guy like (lol) Demers. |

Fair enough but to get someone of the calibre of a true #1 you gotta be lucky deeper in the 1st round. Can't get a Getzlaf every year. |

See Brian Burke and Kevin Lowe.....
McPhee is about to flip Methot to the Leafs (division rival).... a player they have been trying hard to keep. |

McPhee has a hard on for draft picks and the talk on NHL radio was they wanted to auction off Dumba. |

It would certainly help to get a lottery win. I can imagine they'd be set for a while if they managed to win next year's lottery and grabbed Svechnikov (or whoever ends up #2 behind Dahlin). |

Well neither of them had anything to trade for about 7 years....and like it is far too often stated, both were apparently idiots so it's a moot example. |

Then we'll be competing with teams like Toronto who have younger and cheaper (but less proven) assets to move. It'll depend on whether McPhee prefers Eberle or RNH's track records or Brown or Kapanen's youth along with a package. |
