I heard they want to but Stone wants to test the market. Doesn't mean it won't be us that gets him, but it might mean we're looking elsewhere. |

Now that the lists are in and the supposed side deals to protect players I think the prices on D via trade went up. FA could be the popular choice this year. |

So,
What anyone care to think of what the cost might be to get Vegas to take Brouwer instead of Kulak?
Also if Vegas went all in on Radulov and Shattenkirk and made some trades with the Devils to get Kovi's rights they could be a pretty decent squad right away.
I wish I could be a fly in the wall in their GM's office to see what he is up too. |

I don't really think it's worth it to give up an asset just to get Vegas to take Brouwer, tbh. We're not in any cap trouble right now and while losing Kulak might sting we'll be just fine without him thanks to our depth on the blue line. We're losing a player regardless, and I'd much rather lose a guy and move on than lose two guys just to save one, considering the one guy we would save is Kulak and not Gaudreau.

Since they need to give up draft picks every year to get a new goalie, they probably shouldn't be giving away more assets.
Getting stuck with Brouwer again might not be the worst thing ever. If he can have a bounce back year and regain the chemistry he had with Bennett before he broke his finger and Smith can be solid all year, the Flames will be in contention to win the Pacific.
Also, for as bad as he was last year, Brouwer played a big part in the success of the Flames' power play once it got going.
I'm also not sure why people are so high on Kulak. He's going to be at best a 5th defensemen, and I don't know why Vegas would take him over Brouwer, Chiasson, Bouma, or Stone. |

I am not a Brouwer hater. But would like that money to go to a top 6 RW. Which I don't think Brouwer will end up being. I hope he has a bounce back season if he is still with the organization.
Kukak looked pretty decent the little time he got to play. Agreed he is not more than a 5th.
Why do you think they will take a tender with one of the draft pics? I think they are pretty stocked up at the moment. |

I hope it's Cal Foote or Cole Lind! Lind lead the Rockets in scoring. Foote lead the power play. Not an NHL scout but watched both play a lot this year and they're both players. Worth considering. |

No, they've given up draft picks the last 2 years to bring in a goalie. |

You can usually make a pretty accurate prediction about a prospect's career trajectory by the time they're 23. Teams also don't tend to develop defencemen they see as top pairing guys by having them be the 7th defenceman for a year. |

They aso used picks on Parsons and McDonald in that time, also signed Rittich. I would say they are doing pretty well in that department at the moment. |

Well we let a top paring guy who eventually became our captain go play in the KHL for a year, soo anything can happen. Plenty of defensemen don't come into their own until they are in their late 20's. |

Giordano was mildly touted before he went to Russia....nobody thought he would become the player he is. |

Burke/Treliving have actually stated that they will draft a goalie every two years. We aren't due to draft another goaltender until next year. |

I would say that Kulak is mildly touted right now. Maybe not to the extent that Gio was, but enough to warrant a story from TSN
I don't really think Kulak is going to turn into a top pairing guy, but to say he won't be any more than a #5 is kind of premature in my opinion.
