I think with Bylsma being fired, Girgensons could be one of the most interesting stories going into this season. It's no secret that him and Bylsma didn't really mesh well.

Theory-

Vegas knows that in order to eventually compete for something meaningful, it will need to land a "franchise player" or two

Selecting guys like Manson, Dumba, Neal etc, might prevent them from being able to land a #1 overall.

They might be open to a lot of draft and trades if it involves lottery picks for them

Girgs was really good under nolan. A lot of players struggled under dckhead Dan. You just don't throw way a 1st Rd pick with his talent.

the one that really gets me (cause he confirmed no side deals with vegas) is protecting howard over mrazek.

Fitz I know you're mad but the trade deadline has sucked major balls
So you should've so much expected this

I'm excited for what is to come for us in the summer

Unless Vegas made deals with A LOT of teams,
they're gonna be able to select a pretty damn good team

Ulmark gets picked by Vegas. Lehner signs 2 year bridge deal early next week. Botterill calls Cal Petersen and says Rochester #1 is yours for the taking. In two years, Buffalo is yours for the taking.

The source of the above is my dog Jake.

I wonder if the projected underwhelming amateur draft class affected a lot of potential moves for the expansion one.

Would certainly have been a tougher call for a lot of teams if they felt it was a good year.

Just wait unti JT Compher starts playing full time
- sbroads24

He's the only player from the O'Reilly & Kane trade I thought we'd miss
Although O'Reilly is what one would hope Compher could eventually become,
so in the end I was ok with losing him

sabres protecting larsson, foligno, ennis and girgens kind of surprise me

I thought one, ennis, would be exposed and carrier protected

- homiedclown

I'm not surprised at all
Last summer I said that Carrier would be their pick
I'm ok losing him...
He's a 4th liner unless he can develop some scoring

I saw that too, but I think he is thinking both his goalies are safe. I would take Riley Sheahan from Detroit.

Trade idea.

Matt Dumba is exposed. Apparently Minny couldn't work out a deal with Vegas.

Vegas is getting Columbus's 24th overall pick

Trade 8th + a minor peice for Dumba and 24th

Or they take them and trade them to teams that need them for picks, and prospects. I am sure many on that list would intrigue GMJB for example.

Fair point if they choose to go Fleury/Grubauer as their tandem. Thought maybe theyd get more for mrazek in a trade but who knows

By putting out both Carrier and Ulmark, maybe they want to lead Vegas towards Carrier over Ulmark. If you leave Ennis unprotected and protect Carrier, chances are they would automatically take Ulmark over Ennis because they don't want Ennis' $4 million+ contract. And he stinks.

Had such a bad season though
Fryk & Ouelett will be considered by Vegas also bc of their age
I think I'd take Mrazek though

Allows me to take a good forward or defenseman from teams I might have otherwise picked a goalie

Example
Rust instead of Fleury
Schmidt instead of Grubauer

Not that they necessarily will...
but it's an option bc Mrazek is young, but still experienced enough they could roll with him as their starter

I'm guessing we will know what teams made deals Wednesday night based on who they picked

Probably find out the next day what was given up

I did a mock team, I actually took some older players than expected. However, it may sound crazy, I think they have a shot at the playoffs with my roster I selected.

They could use a player or 2 to package with their first and try and land pick 2.

Interesting thought

U less we made a deal, I now think they take Ullmark instead of Carrier
He doesn't have to clear waivers,
and looks to be their best option to be AHL starter
