Because he has never made the playoffs in his career nor hit free agency. He's going to want to cash in big and get his picking on where he goes.

I wish they would just let go of Moulson, Ennis, Gorges and Bogo. All 4 need to go one way or another. They're all dead weight. Trade, waive, whatever, just tell them thank you and do not show up anymore we don't want you here. Take the cap hit, whatever. Don't even care, just don't want them here.

In a perfect world yes I would agree 100% but then they become someone elses dead weight which makes it hard. I can see Moulson, maybe Ennis. Thats it. I have hope for Bogos to improve this year. Gorges is our burden. It would have to be a buy-out on him.

If Botteril had some balls he'd work out a deal with Vegas to take one of them. Let's say it's Moulson. He'd trade BADgosian to a team and give them a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick for him. Gorges would be a healthy scratch/injury replacement and Ennis... If he doesn't perform in camp you cut him. If he clears waivers then put him in Rochester.

Agreed I'd trade any defenceman on this team not named Risto over Guhle with Housley as the coach now.

Niemi is making 4.5 this year, and is "Mr. Softee" personified, Dallas can't get rid of him fast enough. I'm guessing Lehner would take 4.25-4.5 for 2-3 years. I'd rather do that.

You know what I meant... He needs to not worry about players feelings and also realize he may have to take a financial hit to make the team better.

Kinda having trouble seeing how Housley's comments relate to Kane? Boundaries between coaches and players seems more about the coach not being to close to the players. Kinda like how, as a parent, you want to be your kids' friend, but you need to be their parent first and foremost.

I think you're stretching trying to make this about Kane's off-ice behavior (which, as far as I can tell, wasn't much of an issue during the actual season last year)

I would be willing to swap first picks this year to take Niemi off Dallas's hands, that is only if Robin isn't here next year.
