@CanadiensMTL

The Canadiens acquire BUF's 3rd-round pick (68) in 2017 , in return for N. Beaulieu.

Wow I really like that.

Remember when a subset of sabres fans fell in love with Tim Murray because of how he drafted Jack Eichel on stage? lol

Nice trade by the sabres. Scratching my head as to why mintreal is getting rid of their defence.

Same reason most teams will try today. Can't protect them try to get something

Montreal fans are pissed, and analytics guys think it was stupid to trade him.

I like it

The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenceman Nathan Beaulieu to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a third-round pick in 2017.

The 24-year old is currently a restricted free agent.
In 2016-17 Beaulieu registered four goals and 24 assists in 74 games and added an assist in five playoff games.
He also opened the regular season on Montreal’s top pairing with Shea Weber, but was quickly moved in favour of Alexi Emelin.
With Montreal facing elimination in game six of their series against the New York Rangers in the 2017 NHL playoffs, Beaulieu was named as a healthy scratch. The Canadiens were eliminated from the playoffs in that game, losing 3-1.
Beaulieu was drafted in the first round (17th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Just called a friend of mine who is a big Habs fan. He said he started the season as Weber's partner on the top pair, but slowly fell out of favor. My friend thinks maybe it was because Montreal put too much pressure on him being so young, but who knows. Regardless, my friend is unhappy about the return, but wasn't surprised he was moved.

Listening to an interview now...

Apparently his decision making has been pretty bad throughout the year

Exactly my thoughts as well.
Tempering .that thought with the point he would need to be protected though...so, it doesn't really help in trading with a team who doesn't have room to protect another player...unless said team has room to protect a D but is overloaded with F's?

I think gmmb is hoping to get the workd for galchenyuk. Don't think he will. Dumb move by mtl. Smart move by sabres. I always enjoyed the battle of the QEW. Here's to it happening sooner than later. Battle of the 2 best young american centers.

Starting to make more sense why the 3rd rounder was the true asking price.

Johnson going to ARI is related to expansion draft. ARI needed a goalie to protect. Johnson fits bill:

I guess
What I'm reading/hearing is that he sounds a lot like Bogosian
Poor hockey sense, questionable decision making

Doesn't sound like a top4 guy to me

Although Montreal obviously had high hopes for him
Was a mid 1st round pick
Started the year as Weber's partner

Maybe Housley can work with him?
