You know, for some reason...I don't know. For some reason, a voice in my head says that it's possible the Flyers move down a few spots.

Again, I know absolutely nothing. Nothing at all.

But this feels like one of those drafts where scouts/GMs kinda sit there and go "Huh. If this kid in the 4-6 range fills out like we kinda think he will..."

For example, it's been reported a few times by Bill that the Flyers in 2007 really liked Voracek and it led to them asking for him a few years later in the Carter trade.

This feels like that draft -- not as much sizzle at the top as some, but maybe guys who scouts look at and say, "Huh. The frame is there..."

I mean, for example, just say that Colorado moves Matt Duchene. Say they do, for a defenseman. So now they want a high-end center. And they say, "You know what? I think being at No. 2 gives us Patrick/Hischier, and that's where we want to be."

So they call up the Flyers and say, "OK. Let's just go all in and shake this thing up. We're terrible. You've got a crap-ton of forwards and our depth is kinda garbage. How about we give you Landeskog and No. 4, you give us No. 2, Raffl and Laughton."

Wouldn't you do that? Since you're probably gonna lose one of Raffl or Laughton anyway in the expansion draft? And then you pick a guy like Vilardi or Glass -- because you're guaranteed at No. 4 to get either Patrick, Hischier, Vilardi or Glass -- who, if you believe the scouting reports, could be really good but just need time?

I'm not saying deal back down to 13, something like that. I'm saying that this feels like one of those drafts, since you're already playing with house money, where you could move down a spot or two IF, I repeat IF, you feel really good about Glass or Vilardi and are creative

To me though, the biggest need is a number #1 C. Giroux's star is fading, is our Luke Skywalker out there on some farm with his uncle?

Ha! Absolutely

We might fight on this board as a whole, but I have to admit that some of the funniest stuff I've seen over the past few years has been on this board with you degenerates

Absolutely not. This lottery was a gift. They're fools if they pass up the chance at a #1 center for the next decade plus.

LOL

Same with me and the wife. I'll start laughing or cussing, then start typing, and she'll roll her eyes and say "hockey?"

And I'll go, "Yep."

I'm absolutely not saying you're wrong -- again, I don't see a single one of these kids play during their seasons except for the WJC. It's certainly not worth fighting over, for that reason and because I have no insights into what they want and who they're talking to.

Just saying that sometimes in unpredictable drafts where you have fast risers, there is potential for oddities

No, I don't expect them to move down a few spots. But I won't be shocked if, in this draft, they do -- who knows? Just talking hockey on a Friday.

I mean, what if the Flyers are the team that has Makar at No. 1 on their board? It's one of those weird drafts like that, to me

Reading Celtic fans having a meltdown. Lol. They're in denial convinced that Ainge is going to do Nets Part II and get LAL+SAC picks+Saric+3. Or Embiid as part of the deal.

3+one of LAL/SAC pick. (frank) 'em

Seems like it's #3 + one of LAL/SAC picks. That is orgasmic from a Sixers standpoint.

It's absolutely infuriating that the Flyers just don't re-sign Mason.

You only give up that pick if you are blown away by a deal. The deal you referenced isn't even remotely in the ball park. Getting a #1 center moving forward is paramount for this team.

The report is 3 the Lakers and a future 1st rounder from the Sixers rumored to be 2019 (we should be good by than)

It seems like they wouldn't be prepared to draft him and This is all about moving around the lakers to get him. Which is easy as hell lol!

I'd rather it be the Lakers pick. They'll likely sign some big name FA this offseason and might not be at the top of the lottery again next year.
