Who wants to play for a team starting from the ground up and most likely no shot at a cup? Whoever Vegas selects, has to report to Vegas without the convincing UFA comes with. The expansion draft is pretty much a UFA draft except the contract are set.

Bad teams sign free agents every single year. Just last year Arizona signed McGinn to a 3 year deal at $3.33m AAV. And Vegas already signed Shipachyov to a $4.5m AAV deal, which is roughly 8% of the cap floor already taken care of. I don't think you have any awareness of what's going on around the league.

A guy like MDZ would happily go play in Vegas if they offered him a decent deal, and it won't have to be worth $16m over three years like MacDonald's contract.

To me that seems like GM speak for " Yeah. We can work something out but at our price and term" if not then their are other options.

I understand why some wouldn't mind getting out from under Giroux's deal -- I'm not blind, and I can be honest about what we are seeing -- but I'm still not quite there

Still think there's two or three more 55-65 point seasons in there, but it's dependent on him having a legit scoring winger in close to their prime years on his left side

I understand others might disagree, and I don't know 100 percent for sure that I'm right. But right now, at this moment, I don't think the Flyers get better by dealing Giroux

I disagree with you. In my opinion he is.

if you have a chance to move andy mac you do it. simple as that. Maybe, just maybe, you revisit MDZ for a year or 2 as he will still be cheaper than amac.

Otherwise there will be plenty stop gap vets you can sign for 1/2 years who will be cheaper and more than likely better.

Use some of the draft choices over the next 2 years or other assets and make
a trade for a dman with a few years left. They are out there.

I'm obviously waiting to see how the offseason shakes out but if that is what we have come game 1 of the season, yikes. The organization has made a huge mistake and someone should be held accountable or at the very least there needs to be reflection as to how this happened and why Mason was mishandled.

That information isn't available. I can tell you that there will be 31 teams next year. That means that an Eastern conference team has a 53% chance of making the playoffs whereas a Western conference team has a 50% chance. I doubt that the NHL allows that to carry on for too long.

I also ensure that I have a 6-month emergency fund, in case I am no longer able to hold a job.
I also choose to fill up the gas tank when it reaches 1/4 or lower and I'm near a gas station, in case I drive longer than expected and run out of gas.
I also, when wrestling with my pups, stop short of choking her out because I realize that it's not necessary.
