The leaves did it in 4 years. We've already bottomed out for 2.

They had a lot of pieces before Shanny got there, Benning didn't.

to me prime is 25-31
that means in 3 years drouin is in his prime. Call me crazy, but I'm hoping were competitive in 3 years. We land Vilardi and draft d heavy this year and next. Do I think trading Juolevi is ideal/? of course not! I'd way rather move Edler/Tanev, but it's a matter of the asking price. Anyway, montreal won huge IMO. Not for next year, for ten years. Maybe Serg is better than I think he is, but for me that is a landslide.

They will poking their heads out of the basement in 3 years, if that's what you mean by competitive.

They had a first overall pick, Benning didn't.

Next year, after the Sedins retire, it's going to be even worse than it is now. I know they only produce 50 points but that's 100 points you need to replace, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

How do you know this?

Good trade for both teams.
Mtl needs scoring desperately and has some talent on the backend that is expendable.
TBl needed to move someone and got some futures back.

Vancouver is not in a position to make a similar trade, although i'd love to add Drouin to the team.

Agree👍

Tanev would be expendable for me while we rebuild with youth.
Now that Drouin is traded i still want more picks this draft.

Excellent. A show me contract. Either he earns an extension or we trade him for picks at the deadline

"Erik is a big, strong physical defender who I know feels has a lot to prove and has worked diligently in his injury rehab," Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a statement. "He has leadership qualities that will be important for our young team and we are excited to see him healthy and back on the blue line next season"

Mirror deal, that's good.
Boy, those leadership qualities sure do pay.

Benning has to stop drafting those CHL team captains

points will be missed, so will leadership and taking all that heat, both in the media but also on the ice matching up against other top lines.

it's good news if your younger players can step up against the pressure and continue to develop.

If Bo, Brock, Sven, Granny and Loui plateau or regress when playing top mins, fans will freak out and pile on...which ain't good news.

If Benning can't find 100 points with 14 mil he should be shot.

shouldn't be measured in just points, but theoretically, if the Sedins were gone, you could easily add 3 players , who aren't above 35, which could easily contribute more than what the Sedins have brought last year, and presumably what they will contribute this year with 14 million.

fans will freak out and pile on... no matter what b/c the losing will not stop.

of the players you wrote, only brock needs to be sheltered in his minutes.

with or without the sedins, it's time for the others to be the focus of the canuck's offense. if they wilt, that's useful information going forward.

however, let's be honest, the fanbase will freak out no matter what.
