Or we can wait a year and get him for free.

Linden axed one Kane deal before . Canucks have no interest in him even as a UFA . Not happening.

Yes no Kane deal likely. But if he's UFA that's a JB no brainer.

He is a high end player that two teams were pushing him out the door

Neither team had a feelings/hugging coach. That says a lot.

I would not hate Kane here but I doubt if the twins would sign him

Eric Engels: Appears very likely that Alex Galchenyuk gets traded. There is a good possibility that they will get a defenseman in return.

Bob McKenzie: Think that after the Drouin trade it’s more likely that Galchenyuk gets traded.

The Canadiens will look at playing Drouin at center.

Would anyone be shocked if JB traded Tanev for Gally

- NorthNuck

Now that the Habs got Drouin u may be on to something here.

What if Henrik signs Kane to mentor Daniel and Loui?

We acquire 3OA to get Casey? LOL that would be either Glass or Vilardi 100%
- Retinalz

Maybe so. There has been value and interest in Mittlestadt out there equal to above. CBC thought less of Glass and invited Mittlestadt over Glass as top four draft picks during Cup finals. I personally like Glass for many reasons at this point. But can't rule out Mittlestadt's hockey IQ and potential as having value.

The other note found interesting is his Blogger Hunter's trade for that pick:

(Trade: #3 Overall + Val Nichushkin for Chris Tanev + #33 Overall)

I say not,bad but he didn't consider that Stars would value cap dump more to go after star UFA then 33rd pick. JB could take the dump and would rather not depart with 33rd to get rights to Nichushkin.

That doesn't fit in for my fantasy. Also, some teams may already have their offensive defenseman and need what Tanev supplies...defense.
- Reubenkincade

As much as some ppl look at offensive stats it obscures what Tanev is all about & that being that very good defensive D r still valuable. D pairings mostly are about pucks outta the net firstly then breakouts for scoring or it makes offensive D a liability more so than a threat. Teams like Dallas & the Leafs & Jets & NJD seek a Tanev for that very reason.

He's been traded once. Big return then. Sabers probably can't resign him as he wants out. So they are entertaining offers. Hockey wise he's had value.

I think he's matured and learned his lessons. He doesn't have a substance abuse problem either. So JB won't bulk at bringing him in as a UfA with all that cap space next season.

Gal has skill, no doubt, but does he have the attitude and confidence to be on the #1 line? Just doubt for a sure thing we have in Tanev, would rather see what else is there.
- allsports

How about if he plays a role like Morrison did in the WCE days.
Plays as the 200' C with 2 scoring wingers & stirs the drink as the 3rd wheel?
In my way of thinking with JB acquiring youth/scoring wingers the 200' C ala the Bruins is more likely. Then we draft C for a home run as in Casey or Glass. A Makar is a possibility if Tanev fetches a 1st+ for a PP QB.

Say for a moment we get Gally for Tanev & our expansion roster is fine...

Dank Hank Granny
Sven BO Boeser
Goldy Gally LE

Does that look balanced & deep?
Ignore the usual what line is what number...
Also factor in the Sedins retire after next season.

Meh, if you take a look at the top 20 scoring forwards in the league, none of them are overall "tough". Galchenyuk has also played the most games in his draft class, so I am not super concerned about him being soft. If its between Tanev and Galchenyuk or Tanev and a mid 1st rounder, I would take Galchenyuk any day

People wanting to add this guy as a UFA is why Aquaman has been avoiding a rebuild. Canucks rebuild started 20 regular season games ago, and fans already want to add a guy that will turn 27 for the first puck drop of his next contract so the team will "contend" for a WC spot

I don't think it matters how it gets dressed up, it will still look like crap. We need 17 more hockey players added to this line up.

Missing from my forward lines is D will prolly be woeful & Marky as a starter should still make us a lotto team for another high pick.g

Furthermore its not what it looks like next season but is about future seasons.

That is the sad part, our suspect defense is better than our forward group.
It is going to take one pick at a time to fix this mess.
Hopefully we build through the draft, and occasional trade for a young piece.
