Those you draft at this point. No one is dumping those players in trades for what the Canucks have to offer. Plus Stars need D so they don't have any stud D prospects with speed either. So who do you grab there in 3OA plus prospect?
- Nuck4U

Mittelstadt unless NJD takes Heiskanen then its maybe Patrick.
Then with 5OA its either Glass or Makar maybe.

bo will be as good as he wants to be ...whether that is a top line scorer/shutdown center with offence/2nd line complimentary center ...he is a good young player who will be a Canuck for a long time
- Redmile247

Bo's character & offseason work ethic will bode him well.
He will be an underrated superstar one day IMO.

...BO knows hockey...

Dont get greedy, Tanev for 3OA + Niemi(apparently they want Lehtonen to be back up) and if we need to add SJS 4th so be it.
- Retinalz

People are not realizing how big the pressure is on the Stars to win now in their market. They are the desperate buyers here and need Tanev. They don't have any other real options out there to get that kind of D for their pick. It would be nice to add another asset to the rebuild for JB. But that's not the pressure on JB to give up a valuable player. The pressure is on the Stars so they should give up assets that they can't use to win now. Nichushkin falls there as an asset that can't be used to win now. So he's good compensation to JB for taking a salary dump goalie.

It was stupid to give up that much for a player of his caliber in the first place, you can't fix that.
- LeftCoaster

I like him and think his caliber is high, so agree to disagree again. Here I thought I was th pessimist on this board

Like I said cap friendly has him as RFA for 2018

They tend to be accurate as a source on contracts.

They need to clear that up. The link I posted says this below. That's the link sourcing I used from Carol's previous posting. That was the sourcing I was going off of that I presented.

Tanev, Christopher 27 D $4,450,000 UFA (2020) ✔

No. That's not what the link I posted says. I posted it again above it clearly gives the salary and RFA 2018. They need to clear that up if it's inaccurate.

Edit. Cause can only copy one at a time. Here is what they have:

First year as a Canuck was undeniably a disaster. I'm holding out hope. Also Hutt as a pair was huge mistake, he need someone more reliable.

Two different links to two different cap friendly data pools. One has it different then the other. They should clear that up.

Here's a link from 2016 showing his last deal.
https://twitter.com/Georg...status/729740795805372417
He's rfa until the end of the 2018 season, then he turns ufa, 7 years in the nhl.
They do need to clear it up but the source you're citing is wrong.

Gudbranson will have played in his 7th season coming up. He will have completed 7 seasons in the league which makes any and all players on expiring contracts a UFA, as per CBA. Who gives a poop what an Internet website says, the CBA supercedes that information.

Yup...completion of his seventh year in the league and an expiring contract makes him a UFA I do believe.

"An unrestricted free agent is defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement as a player that has seven accrued seasons or is 27 years or older by June 30th of the end of an NHL season. These players are UNRESTRICTED free agents and have absolutely 0 restrictions on their negotiating ability."
