Drouin is not even close to Kane. He'll maybe hit 70 points next year. Maybe. Bo is a defensive center, Drouin is a scoring winger. Completely different types of players. Need both to win, but not really comparable. I would not trade Bo for Drouin straight-up, and I really like Drouin. I just think a good center that can play 200 feet is harder to find.

Sorry but Bo is not good defensively, I've been through this debate before. He's a good faceoff guy but that hardly means he's good defensively. A lot of work needs to be done on that aspect of his game.

And btw....70 points puts you in the top 18 players in the league.

There's where I disagree I guess, Drouin is a lot closer to a skilled winger like Kane than Horvat will ever be to a Jonathan Toews.
- LeftCoaster

I think Horvat will be a better Kesler in his prime. But less of a pest.

Not if JB has anything to say about it.

I hope that's true, but I'm not convinced at this point.

If the Canucks can get Makar, Glass and Joseph this draft. Dahlin next year.

Things would be looking pretty darn good.

That would require a lot of things going right but it'd be sweet.

The Drouin trade further shows how much value D have. An unproven prospect for a former top draft pick, proven in playoffs, young, still not in his prime, star in Drouin.

If I were JB I would push LE to waive for his former team. Then trade Tanev, LE & Subban to Stars for 3OA, Nickushkin's rights, Lehtonen cap dump.

If trade is after expansion draft price goes up and is: Tanev for 3OA, Nickushkin's rights plus Niemi dump. This is because teams are making their sell moves now. After expansion most teams trading are looking to buy, cap dump or player level hockey trades. Like if they part a top D they want a top 6 forward back. Not what the Stars are dangling with 3OA.

LE's contract shouldn't be a concern for a win now team like the Stars. Who would have paid that in free agency. LE is a win now move that gives them an impact player in all zones plus PK & PP. Nichushkin isn't helping them win now. The cap dump of goalie balances things out. Tanev adds awsome contract and badly needed D that no one else is offering. Subban could be an experiment they can try also for now. Instead of wait years on a pick. He's the price Canucks pay for getting to protect an extra D like Sbisa.

I beg to differ. Bo went from a -45 playing against other teams 3rd and 4th lines in one season and the next playing against other top lines and was a -7the next. That is quite a defensive difference considering he is playing on ash1tty team.

I would take Sergachev over Drouin all day long. Proven or not. The Russians character and skill win it for me every time.

Bo was thrown to the wolves in his second season ....against the top lines ....not 3/4 lines

He was better used and had better linemates last year

There is rarely consensus on this board.
Is anyone opposed to trading Tanev for the 3OA?

totally agree.
I still don't know if he'll ever reach Keslers ceiling, but if he continues to develop, he just might. [/img]

Then you would be all over getting Nichushkin off the Star's in a Tanev for pick and prospect trade.

weak
- Nucker101

Oh i know. I just think this year's draft is so damn weak that I'd trade all or picks for one of the top two as they will be the only bonofid stars to come out, lilgran is a swing for the fence as is makar.
I don't want safe... i want a home run..
