All the experts said tocchet. I said four days ago,it was housley if he wanted it. Pegula did not and would not interview tocchet
- Buffalo39

you did say that, but I don't remember all the experts saying that...if they did, they didn't know the recent history of the sabres and weren't paying attention to the Pegula's thoughts on character

He didn't want quote unquote bad characters anymore
- Buffalo39

I dont really like hearing that. The GM should be able to make his own decisions without the owner stepping in.

when hajt retired, in 87

there was no real defensive d men other than ramsey on the roster

barasso's numbers show it, plus he was a tad off the last few years in town

hopefully our gm will fix that problem for the goalies this coming season

rosen tweeted something similar...pretty sure he has a good idea as to what he's walking into on defense.

They hired a GM who is basically raved around the league and a part of 3 Stanley Cup championships and a coach who helped develop the top 4 D in the NHL, just lost game 6 of finals and played the most NHL games without ever winning a cup, I think we have a pretty darn good combo and if it fails it fails.
- buffalokb

Uhh, yes. How can anyone say hiring the assistant coach on a team that almost won a cup and plays a very up tempo attack style is a bad decision?

I do remember people growing to hate him too.....

....I am starting to see a trend. I just remember wondering why people were happy Housley was gone.

Because he was as soft as soft came.

And Housley is one of very few who played a modern defensive style back in the day. He knows what to do with the D (and what we need)

IF we did get Kane though... we would have the best nickname for a line in the NHL.

The CO-Kane line. Speeds up the heart

As a player, no I was not. Did backflips the day Hawerchuk came to town.

That being said, I love what he's done in Nash. How can anyone not? So, I'm good with the hire.

Tocchet and Housley have always been the front-runners, at least to those of us on the outside...Botterill/Tocchet connection was driving force on that side, but they never really understood what was going on in buffalo
