Drouin to Canadiens - YuenglingJagr
Good for both sides, at first glance -- TB couldn't take any real money back, so

Not sure cheap at all. Long-term, in fact, I think Tampa did well.for themselves - bmeltzer
It makes sense for both sides, the more I think about it.
MTL gets the more proven asset and a player that normally would not be available in the trade market. Yzerman gets back a decent return while freeing up a protection slot as well for a player that he's had problems with.
I like Serg, but I think he's become a bit overrated since being drafted by Montreal. |

I'm a big Sergachev fan and Tampa is my another of my favorite teams. - Mordecai
Yeah just because most people havent heard of or seen Sergachev doesnt necessarily make it a bad trade. Trades feel lopsided when they are made out of necessity. Drouin should be getting a pretty big contract (LOL if they bridge him like Subban) which was a big part of this as well for TBL |

wow it looks like the "conditional" part is dependent on Sergachev playing 40 games for the Lightning this year. If he does, no draft picks are exchanged. |

2nd year in a row a skilled winger was traded for a young defenseman. This one at least has expansion implications - YuenglingJagr
Are you talking Johansen for Jones, or someone else? I'm getting older and my memory isn't as good, but I'm asking because Johansen is a center and I didn't know if you were referring to that trade or another one that I can't remember that was winger for D

Yeah, I guess only long-term will tell but an 18 y/o d-man is more risky a proposition than Drouin. |

If you don't mind me asking, how does someone from Alaska become a Flyers fan? I find that pretty cool. - MBFlyerfan
Oh, I grew up near Asbury Park, NJ. After college, I moved west and ended up in Alaska about 12 years ago. Been a Flyers fan since I was a kid. |

League says no announcements of trades until the expansion draft. So rumors and talk is all you're going to get. Heaven forbid they have some press leading up to awards night. - bodiva88

Doesn't MTL almost have to do something like Galchenyuk for Duchene, plus or minus an asset, now?
Because unless Claude Julien changes how he feels about Galchenyuk, he won't use him at center, either. Not saying that is right or wrong because I don't watch every game for them and when I do Galchenyuk looks fine at center, but that's two coaches who just can't seem to find ways to leave him there

When Weber and Markov's legs finally fall off, Habs are gonna wish they kept Sergechev.
Drouin in a Julien system doesn't seem like a match made in heaven either. |

I agree. Sergachev has more value than Sanheim, and I wouldn't have wanted to give up Sanheim + 2nd for Drouin. |

Have to admit, I like Drouin more than most, but the Habs needed a freaking center, if they aren't gonna play Galchenyuk there, if they were gonna offer up Sergechev
JMO, but they have enough wingers, even if Radulov walks -- though that would hurt

Montreal will enjoy immediate satisfaction with this deal, but you're right. It could be a back breaker in the future. |

I wouldn't, just based on how the Flyers are built -- the odds of them not taking a center at No. 2 are, to my mind, pretty slim, and they can afford to wait for that center to develop, if need be
I used to be really wary of Schenn, but he's moved past those maddening bouts of inconsistency. He's good for 50-60 points for the rest of his deal, and he fits what they're trying to do. No problems with him here, anymore
