Wow, i never thought about it like this.

I guess, just like benching Ghost an Konecny, not playing your young, skilled players over vets is the consistency i want to see, both on the farm team and the parent club.

Not playing the young, skilled players is the best way to develop them.

i dont think that is what he meant but ok.

Yeah, I don't think so.

The benching of players like Ghost and Konecny are completely different from what happened with the Phantoms in the playoffs. That was clearly just a coach not having faith in the younger players and wanted "vets" he could trust regardless of how much skill they lacked.

Swavely was actually taking draws deep in Game 5, as IIRC it was basically just him and Laughton that were able to win faceoffs

Don't forget, his 5 minute major penalty won us that Pittsburgh game.

Just hypothetically speaking since the rumors was brought up.

If Montreal calls and wants Giroux for 2017 1st rounder, Galchenyuk and Nathan Beaulieu do you make the deal now or hope that Giroux recovers and has another 3-4 good years?

Me and a friend were talking about do you do it now and try to cash in a little or waitn a little and hope you can move Giroux later when Patrick(who i think the flyers get) is a little more seasoned and ready to take over the number one duties.

Plus I think his original point was that a player like Goulbourne is not going to be treated the same as Fazleev, who wont be treated the same as Sanheim, who wont be treated the same as Hischier or Patrick. hence no consistency. Consistency would imply that every kid gets treated in a similar manner. If that is what he meant then no, there should not be consistency, nor should a player expect it.

Maybe...I thought consistency was to dispel the idea of Gordon not wanting to play someone who hadnt played for the Phantoms (Myers, Friedman) when he did it with other players

The narrative of certain posters of the narrative is not about the narrative but the meta of the narrative. Changing the narrative to fit their needs is their prerogative. The only narrative that matters is the correct one. Whether using fancy stats or the eye test, we're talking about the only narrative that matters.

This applies to the silly narrative about developing players as well. Can't change the narrative if you don't know what the narrative actually is. This narrative that a professional hockey organization doesn't develop players correctly by playing them or not playing them is absurd. Professional organizations do things for a reason, not to conform to certain hockeybuzz poster narratives that drone all day every day about a different narrative.

There has to be more, correct?

That doesn't seem like a lot for Drouin and i thought last year I remember Yzerman turned down better offers.

2nd year in a row a skilled winger was traded for a young defenseman. This one at least has expansion implications
