When some of the Avs beat writers are hearing the buzz from Islanders is DeHaan the 15th overall and a young prospect.
I think the Avs will do a lot better than just "Maatta" - DDM-Coga
I think that is a fair proposal, NYI may be overpaying a bit there IMO but if the Avs can get that much more power to them. Id rather see Hamonic and lose the "young prospect" tho if im the Avs. |

Oh he was 3rd on TOI for the stanley cup champs....well there was no Letang and half a Schultz during the whole playoffs. Maatta would be bottom pairing minutes on a healthy team (and he is a bottom pairing Dman who can jump into the 2nd Pair short term due to injuries)
Dutch had a rough year but he isnt so low in value that they will be taking 3rd pairing Dmen for him.
Maata playing Top 4 minutes on the Avs....that would be a disaster, he isnt good enough to log tough minutes - DDM-Coga

DeHaan is an RFA and needs a new contract, might be too much for the Islanders are willing to pay. Hamonic has a nice cap hit. Thats why I think they would rather make that move plus DeHaan is a Lefty, Hamonic is a righty. Avs have 2 in EJ and Barrie, they need lefties.
I really think they make a deal work b/w the 2, they have all the pieces |

Seems like an overpay, but the Isles are desperate. |

Im not well versed in the intricacies of the Avs lineup so that is an interesting insight. Yeah the Avs and NYI seem like good trade partners as long as duch is truly available. Not just a "well how much will you give me for him" type of available, if you catch my drift. |

Yes they will do much better than just Maata. Pens could make a competitive offer to the one the Isles are offering but wont end up in a bidding war. The Isles will be willing to pay huge though, they need to convince Tavares to stay. |

have no idea if Avs would be tossing a little more on their side but I think there is more of a demand for Dutch that us smucks think there might be.
There are a few desperate tams out there who need Top 6 Help, especially at C. I think the Avs might get close to their demands |

Pens could toss together a package, but IMO it would have to include Sprong and Dumoulin. I can see them being way more interested in Dumo over a guy like maatta |

I think the value in Kunitz is more his ability to fill any role. When he wasn't scoring this year he was playing incredibly physical in a 4th line role. When other players struggled he moved back onto the top two lines and put up a bunch of points from Game 7 of the ECF on. No matter where he is in the lineup he is making an impact. That's why I'd love to have him back. - MacPatty
It's a tough call and I won't be mad if they bring him back. But they have a lot of guys like that. Rust, Hagelin, Wilson. Ended up with Hagelin and Hornqvist on the 4th line. So on ice I think they'll be fine. Ashton-Reese actually seems like a good replacement who might be ready but there is no space for him. |

I think Duchene is 100% gone. He needs a fresh start, this whole shopping thing really messed with his head. He needs to go to a team that is ready to win now and not have to wait through a soft rebuild.
Barrie might go if there is a good hockey trade out there. Landeskog wont go but if a team is willing to over pay to get him, maybe.
Thats how I see the Avs offseason, for sure a Duchene trade and a 50/50 shot Barrie is moved |

Depends on the prospect.
Isles aren't really desperate either (for scoring). They finished 10th overall in GF/game after a horrible first-half of the season and losing their 2nd and 3rd top scorers from the year prior. The offense is fine.
de Haan is a good player, but they're going to lose either him or Hamonic in the expansion draft. Truthfully, when I'm looking at the trade...I don't even count de Haan or Hamonic as part of the "cost", because they're going to lose one no matter what. May as well maximize their value and add a top center to play behind Tavares.
What I'm hoping is that the "young prospect" is Dal Colle and not Barzal/Pulock/Ho Sang/Beauvillier. |

Fowler has put up a few more points, but Gardiner does a much better job in his own end.
Jesus christ, there are words that I never thought that I'd type! - lumlums
Fowler plays 25 minutes a night often in a shutdown role, is top 10 in the NHL in zone exits and has one of the lowest defensive turnover rates in the NHL. Gardiner? LOL. |

Montreal and Columbus come to mind. They really could add Duchene since they have a window is now mode.
Sneaky team would be Nashville. Imagine that team with RyJo and Duchene down the middle. THey have Samuel Girard in their system, I could see a trade package built around him and their 1st rounder. |
