Like the list, except Shaw. I also am pulling for Heponiemi (listed at 5'9 but has a growth spurt and was 6' at the combine) and Josh Norris after a very strong combine. - neem55
Norris is an exciting real deal player. Lots of talk he's gone in the 1st round. |

I'm not too big on Popeye, but that list would be in order of preference for those 3 picks. Would be very happy with Joni at 33 though, his offensive ability is nice. - Nucker101
Haven't seen the kid even close to that high on any board, is there a specific reason you see him rising that far? |

Meh, I wouldn't be upset with him 33, but I don't see any exciting upside either. Great athlete but nothing on the ice jumps out to me. Seems like he'd be a nice role player in the NHL if he develops well, but I want more upside at 33. |

He ripped it up at the U-18's, impressed the hell outta me there.
he's projected to go in the 2nd round by a few people now, and after the first 25-35 picks, most drafts aren't that predictable so at that point you just have to draft who you really like and shouldn't consider consensus rankings. From what I've seen of him, this scouting report sums it pretty well:
Scouting Report:
Joni Ikonen is an undersized, skilled forward with impressive speed.
A diminutive centre, Ikonen does not let his size deter him as he takes direct routes to pucks.
Shows a tenaciousness in puck pursuit and a willingness to get to the gritty areas of the ice.
A player who truly hunts the puck, Ikonen is always buzzing around the net and is able to pounce on loose pucks.
A player above average skating abilities, Ikonen possesses good speed and impressive overall mobility.
Ikonen effortless gains entry to the offensive zone as he’s able to back off defensemen with his speed and puck skills.
With an ability to create space for himself, Ikonen can be dangerous as he shows deceptively strong vision and playmaking skills.
A player who shows creativity offensively and the ability to create for his teammates.
Ikonen is versatile in the offensive zone as a goal scorer and a playmaker.
Ikonen routinely engages and wins puck battles despite average at best size, displaying deceptive strength to his frame.
A player who can play almost to fast at times, Ikonen could better create shooting lanes and show a little more patience in possession.
As he can force things which leads to turnovers.
With that being said the pace issue should improve as he plays with higher skilled/paced players, while the other areas should improve with maturity.
He measured in at 5'11" and 176 pounds so he could still add 10 pounds or so. |

I assume it's because Dallas wants him to take on a goalie and throw in 33rd or something like that. |

He could fall to the late 20's. Everyone has a hard on because he is big. From what I saw he stood in front and picked up garbage. He was good in the slot also. Which is fine but doesn't translate to the NHL. Nor does it make you a PP specialist. |

Not really a fan of any of those guys with those picks tbh, I actually think some of them are very overrated. But to each their own of course. - Nucker101
Yeah they are overrated if they go in the 1st round. But 2nd and 3rd they should make the list of consideration. Helps to balance out that prospect pool too. Though curious why you are not a fan of Salo? |

Thats good it raises his value. Benning would bite for the 3rd overall. Lets not kid ourselves. |

ya he's the 55 pick for me. Bottom 6 guy, but we do need those too! I agree not at 33. I'm hoping for a d to slide out of the first, like a Joseph, timmons or Vaakanienen |

I mean, at a certain point I would tae him because he goes from being overrated to a decent value pick, but I doubt he's there at 33. |

The more I watch the guys projected to go in the 3-10ish range, the more i'm finding myself liking Cody Glass and Nick Suzuki, at this point they'd be my two fav players in that range.
Targets @ #33/#55/#64
1) Pierre Oliver Joseph
2) Henri Jokiharju
3) Aleksei Heponiemi
4) David Farrance
5) Joni Ikonen
6) Filip Chytil
7) Grant Mismash(great name)
8) Mason Shaw
Obviously if guys like Brannstrom, Foote, Yamamoto, or Kostin magically fall to 33rd I'd sprint to the podium if I was Benning but that ain't happening.
Ideally you get Glass at #5 and then 2-3 of those guys listed above - Nucker101
I have really been liking EP at 5 as well. |

I think they're decent picks in the 2nd/3rd round, but I have a lot of others ahead of them who are likely to still be on the board then so by that logic, I just don't think they're good picks. Jut my 2 cents.
Salo's a decent prospect, but I don't see a lot of upside with him personally. Would be a solid middle round pick, but I don't like the idea of drafting him with the high 3rd, after that he'd be a nice pick in my eyes but he may well be gone by then. |

Nice, I do like that kind of player/skillset. Maybe he's still around at 55 though it seems. Also, I think we need LW or D with the 2nd rounders. Maybe he projects to move to the wing though. Hard to argue against offensive/fast players given our current roster though. |

Not too high on either of those 2, but they wouldn't be bad picks at all in the 2nd round if they "fall" |
