Galchenyuk? F@ck off. - thundachunk
I like the kid, personally. but wouldn't give up both those pieces to get him. He could learn alot from Sutter/Hank. Tanev straight up for him I would do. |

I don't have a problem with the current system for the most part. People the last few years have started accepting and parroting the fallacy that " player A is too good for Juniors" when they are usually just average for a drafted player.
I really think people here and elsewhere underestimate how much of a challenge it is to go from playing in juniors to playing against pro's in the AHL. The same holds true for how rare it is for teens to be ready for the NHL. The natural progression of Juniors for 3 years usually (4th often corresponds with overage year) and 2 years of Minors is fine.
I would support waiting until players are 19 before drafting though. - belcherbd
Only a handful of players per draft are ever ready for the pros. If that. I could say with 90% certainty that maybe 3 spend a full season in the pro's of this years top ten. 70% none of them do. |

I think any 1st(even 2nd rounder) should be able to go into the AHL after their Draft +1 season. With teams being able to have a special exception, one player at a time or every so often, that they can put into the AHL right away. Yes it is a big jump going from Juniors to AHL. But a lot of first rounders, esp top 15, are ready for AHL. You can also leave the door open to go back to juniors if AHL isn't working out. |

He does come off as a bit of an odd duck but he's certainly a talented player. High ceiling kid. - LeftCoaster
I liked his play when I saw vid, but the more I see the creepy side, his weirdness and not knowing not to hold your breath during exercise the more I think he's gonna be a problem. I think its a pass on him.

Nothing wrong with the Sedins defence, it's the offence that has dried up. - Crazybagoham
Sure, when in the defensive zone. But they have gotten slower at getting back into the D zone when they cough up the puck. This allows teams to get set up easier, which makes it harder to defend. |

The more I watch the guys projected to go in the 3-10ish range, the more i'm finding myself liking Cody Glass and Nick Suzuki, at this point they'd be my two fav players in that range.
Targets @ #33/#55/#64
1) Pierre Oliver Joseph
2) Henri Jokiharju
3) Aleksei Heponiemi
4) David Farrance
5) Joni Ikonen
6) Filip Chytil
7) Grant Mismash(great name)
8) Mason Shaw
Obviously if guys like Brannstrom, Foote, Yamamoto, or Kostin magically fall to 33rd I'd sprint to the podium if I was Benning but that ain't happening.
Ideally you get Glass at #5 and then 2-3 of those guys listed above |

I guess the Sedin's combined minus 43 is also a result of the dried up offence? |

it's turning into a transition game, so skating is more important than it's ever been. Hank is a major liability out there against top line centers, bottom line is he just can't keep up and gives up way too many odd man rushes. |

I have Joni at 33 with Popogyev if he is still there. |

On a happier note it's their last year. |

I don't think they know where the D zone is anymore. They should be allowed to wear fitbits and look at the GPS when they are stuck in the neutral zone. |

Like the list, except Shaw. I also am pulling for Heponiemi (listed at 5'9 but has a growth spurt and was 6' at the combine) and Josh Norris after a very strong combine. |

Scouting report on Pierre-Oliver Joseph:
http://lastwordonsports.c...report-2017-nhl-draft-46/
ISS Quote:
“Intriguing prospect. Wears ‘A’. Big mobile defender, no fun to play against. Plays a two-way game, but looks like he will develop into more of a shutdown physical defensive defender at next level.” |

They will retire after their contract is up. Their conditioning is still there and top level but the speed is not. I would like to say they lost a step but they were never speedsters. They move the puck and do it better than anyone. |

Looks like good options. Though I'd strike out 4/5/6 and add preference to Salo, Mattheos and Gadjovich. I'd add Ratcliffe or Rasmussen as sprints if they fall to 33.

I'm not too big on Popeye, but that list would be in order of preference for those 3 picks. Would be very happy with Joni at 33 though, his offensive ability is nice. |

Not really a fan of any of those guys with those picks tbh, I actually think some of them are very overrated. But to each their own of course. |

I could see them going straight into organizational roles, TBH I'd love it because I do think they think the game at a top-tier level and are classy guys for sure. |
