He's not a good skater, this is a fast league.
I don't see him being much more than a 45-50 point player.

You mentioned ROR for an extended Tavares... GMJB doesn't have any ties to ROR but I'd still feel a little salty. If we can somehow swing Reinhart++ their way for JT I'm all for it.

But honestly, I'd do ROR for JT all day long.

Idk what you're laughing at?
It's the 18-19 season, I'm guessing u missed that

If line placement of a super talent winger (fine, switch him with Kane if it really matters to u) & an overpayment of a really good defensemen (who knows what hel'll cost, but fine, pay him 4mil, whatever) are the biggest issues with the roster I proposed...

Then I think I did a pretty damn good job

That's a hell of a lot less issues than we currently have
So you're welcome

Let's see you do a lineup sir

im not aiming for the playoffs, i want a true contender. 14 vs 16 only on paper, one team backed by the best defencemen we've seen since lidstrom and the other with a stacked ass blueline.

im willing to risk our future on the draft than through trades thats all. When we finally have a full core in place, then they can wheel and deal.

ROR, Eichel, Risto (yes the others are good, they aren't core pieces and even with risto im sorta sticking my neck out there). We need bare minimum one more, probably two.

How many different ways does it have to be proven you can build a team?
There's no ONE set formula

Our top end talent forward talent is underrated
U don't get the #1 PP with a bunch of guys who are just "good"

Young talent like Nylander, Baptiste & Bailey provide more speed & skill
And my proposed 4th line could be one of the league's best

As far as defense goes...
we'd be solid 1-6
With all of them 25 & under, it will only improve
Maybe we won't have a #1 like Karlsson...
but what about 6 guys who are all #3s or better?

Waiting around to see if a guy we might pick #8ish next year to possibly develop into a difference maker (3 years minimum) seems counter productive to me

With that type of attitude,
we won't ever move forward

If u could guarantee our picks would turn into "stars" then I'm all for it
But we can't assume that

find me the championship team that didn't build its core through the draft and ill buy into this.

our top end forward talent isn't underrated, Eichel and ROR are legit, the rest are more or less passengers.

Look the lineup you put out was solid and i bet a lot of fans would get behind it because we're desperate to see a competitive team after years of mediocrity. But i dont think this teams sinffs the cup final unless they add bare minimum one more legit game changer (at any position really).

you're right I can't guarantee those picks will be stars, just like you cant guarantee all these trades will a) happen and b) work out so smoothly. What if Brodin and Risto don't mix well on a pairing? what if manson can't handle those minutes? What if Bailey and neal or whatever free agent can't hack it in the top 6?

Both ways are risky but over the last decade building through the draft has won more cups than going all NHL 17 on this.

Two of those three are top 5 players of all time though...

And Rechhi should be in the HOF

Agree... But I don't think they win a cup without signing or trading for a poop ton of top notch talent. Not sure how they got Stevens, Coffey, Murphy, etc...
