He's not a good skater, this is a fast league.
I don't see him being much more than a 45-50 point player. - sbroads24
He's not a bad skater
And as a 3C, his assists should go way up as opposed to being on the wing
20-40-60pts seems reasonable to me
I think he'd blossom at Center, don't ya think?
And not everyone on the roster has to skate like the wind
We have plenty of speed coming in Nylander, Bailey & Baptiste
42 and 47 points in his first two full seasons. I don't think he's peaked quite yet. How many points do you see Bailey and Baptiste topping out at? - PrinceChill
40-50 points easily replaceable in FA on the cheap. That botterill's job. Now if Sam scores 60-70 points that will be harder to find on the cheap.

I'd be fine with him at center, but I see 0 semblance of a future star.
He's smart, good passer
But he doesn't skate well, doesn't have a good shot. Doesn't score unless he's getting it deflected off his stick or into an empty net.
He's just OK. I mean, he's been playing with Jack Eichel for two years and hasn't cracked 50 points

So who honestly knew that the Vegas GM is Matt Moulson wife's godfather?
Read that earlier today and had great thoughts, lol, that COULD happen!

IIRC he has a pretty good one from the skills competition, just not a shooter by instinct. wish he would shoot more often

Yes, I said he's exactly like Tyler Myers - sbroads24
First you said: "Tyler Myers had 48 and 37 in his first two and then hasn't reached that since."
Then you said: "Not every guy develops the same way."
Then you said: "I think this Reinhart is the Reinhart we will always see."
How are you not comparing the two?

Yeah we were all shocked at his shot. Wasn't it like 100mph?
That's a whole different animal than a game situation, but I remember we were all shocked at how fast it was.

Matt Moulson's wife is a freaking dime too.
He's not exactly Leonardo DiCaprio.

No, but he's a hockey player and makes a poop ton of money. And some women go in for that.

My point is that not everyone is an automatic lock to get much better from year 2 or 3 on. There are other example of that as well.
Some guys are who they are very early on. That's what I see in Sam

Harsh truth is we need at least one great one. A player like that might become available (long shot i know) more likely we will have to draft and develop one. Hence the patience. - Sabresfan-365
Do we?
Can't Risto be that?
Also... who's Pitt's "great" defenseman?
Brodin-Ristolainen
McCabe-Manson
Guhle-Antipin
That has us 6 deep
Sure, there's no Duncan Keith in there,
But our #6 could be better than their #4
And if some "great" defenseman does become available...
Brodin + Antipin for him?
Or we'd still have Sam & Nylander if the team was looking for a forward
And good prospects like Pu & Asplund
And future draft picks
Why wait around & be mediocre though
Making the RIGHT deals now won't prevent us from making deals in the future
All I gave up was 2 picks in the 1st

Yes she is. And her brother is Jonathan Quick? Nice!
Sure, and that's a fine idea too, but if I can get a top 3 d man for Sam I do it - sbroads24
Nobody is going to give us a top 3 D for a guy who can't skate and won't score over 50 points.

I think in two years he's maybe beat a goalie once with a good wrist shot.
Whether he uses it or doesn't have it, no difference to me

On the wing where it's harder to be a big point producer
Also... who the "future star" we're trading him for?
I'm not saying he's untouchable or anything
But I also think you're being too harsh on him
He's already at 45-50pts
Why is that his ceiling after 2 seasons in a sh!t system, at a new position, and being moved around with different line mates quite often?
It's pretty reasonable to think he will continue to improve
Even if he doesn't get to "star" status

That's true, but the only thing that tells that is time. The opposite is also true. And you seem utterly unwilling to consider that.

I don't Sam needs to fit the definition of the type of player I keep describing to be effective though
Obviously he's no Kucherov
Heck... if they wanna swap I'm all for it though

He's a good player, and will have a long career. Trust me I would love to be wrong about his ceiling
