One drunk GM deal does not set the market in perpetuity, no matter how hard other GM's try to make it be so.

That guy's information is very good, but the fact that he is a giant, and I do mean giant, condescending, @$$ clown truly mitigates his message, at least for me.

He is the perfect description for the people that do hate the advanced crowd, because this guy acts like he is never wrong, like he is a genius, and everybody else is a fool.

Chicago traded Leddy for Ville Pokka, Anders Nilsson & Tj Brennan
From us, that's essentially Borgen, Ullmark & Nelson

And that's only with Salary Cap concerns
There's teams this offseason in Cap trouble AND Expansion trouble

And that's also with ALL other teams in the mix
That's not the case this offseason bc only a handful of teams have open slots to protect players

Don't need Seabrook and we don't need to make overreaction moves.

Seabrook's contract is worse than Bogosian's

Seabrook also isn't as bad as those stats make it seem
It's his age/contract that make him a guy we should stay away from

for the next 3 years

he is fine as a 3 d man

he is very good for the locker room, and probably ristos growth

it's the next 4 years that are a question mark, and who knows what the asking price is

his shot suppression numbers on a good team were almost as bad as ristolainens on this dumpster fire. Think hes the last guy risto needs

That's basically #8 and the 2nd we have from Minny
I'd trade that for a "Hamilton" in a heartbeat

And that's full price
Not taking into context the Expansion issues teams have

#8 would've gotten us Fowler last year
That's probably good enough for almost any defenseman we've talked about the last few weeks

ennis was vegas, foligno was for paajarvi. Girgs+ullmark for picks. larsson for a pick

was too tired to find a team just assembled the one for next year

His play is not the question... it's the contract

I agree
Makes more sense to me to go after someone younger
Even if it means we "overpay"
Although I don't think we will have to pay the prices you're assuming

These knee jerk reactions is what got this team in a bind before, we will find a D man or 2 it just takes time.

Disagree

"Advanced stats" say that Josi isn't a good defenseman
Going by those is a flawed way of evaluating players
Gotta look at the whole picture

Is Seabrook as good as he was 3 years ago?
Of course not
But those stats imply that he sucks,
which isn't true

I think the couple defensemen who end up being on the highest demand will go for quite a big return

But MOST should go at reasonable prices

And I even think a few will go for a discount

I'll let Toronto overpay for "Trouba" or whoever,
while we look at guys at a reasonable price

(That's how I'd do it anyways)
