I'd take Seabrook on the sabres. I think

@RumorBreak
#BREAKING - Chicago is shopping Seabrook but no offers on the table. Am told that Canucks, Flames, Stars, Sabres have interest.

Interesting that Buffalo is listed
First I've seen of this

So the Seabrook rumors are in full force...

I'm assuming almost everyone on here wouldn't want him on the Sabres bc of his age & contract, but...
Toronto is reportedly interested
and I could see him possibly waiving to go there

If that happens...
it would be GREAT for the Sabres

They're one of only a handful of teams who have an open slot to protect a defenseman
If the Leafs trade for him, that takes out of the running for other defensemen we'd be interested in

Here's hoping...
bc I see them as our main competition when it comes to trading for one of these available defensemen

- jdfitz77

There are some serious rumors around Chicago that's for sure.

I think they are going to try to unload one of their bigger contracts. It's either Seabrook or Hossa.

Rumor guys on twitter started a Patty Kane thing but we all know that's fake

Is that a reliable source though? Usually the only people on twitter I trust are Bob McKenzie and crew

It's actually 6.8 and 7 more years

I'm not opposed to adding a big contract if it's the right player and the deal makes sense though

- chilliard77

Holy crap!
How could ANYONE even be thinking about it?
No way

I really like him as a player, and I love his winning experience but the contract is scary

He is not the right player though.

Wrong side of 30 signed until he is like 38 or 39 and a big cap hit.

Not to mention he was exposed last year and there is no Duncan Keith here to take the load off of him.

Not really, so I wouldn't read to much into it from our end
Looks to me like it's just teams listed who have said they wanna improve their defense

However...
I do think the Hawks are shopping him
And if a team will take on that contract,
I think they get him VERY cheap

I'm between agreeing and disagreeing with you here.
- TheSabresTaco

If his contract was for only 2-3 more years...
then I'd be interested

But we can't bring that contract on board
no way

We are gonna want to spend that $$$ elsewhere

Does anyone think the Leafs would actually take him?
I'm really hoping...
but having trouble seeing it happening

The only way any team takes him is if they get out of a bad contract of their own.

That wouldn't make any sense for Chicago though

Supposedly,
The Hawks are willing to add a "sweetener" of some sort

If they get a shorter term any maybe a lower cap hit...

Something like an Ennis like contract for Seabrook

No I am not saying the Sabres should trade for him.

Just using Ennis's contract as an example.

For SEVEN more years though? He's 32
And the cap hit is 6.8mil

That would be a horrible decision on our part
If it was for 3 more years, then ok
Way too long of a contract though at his age

Petry make 5.5 as a 3 d man

I would rather have Seabrook at his hit

I think the Hawks are looking to totally clear Salary though
They have major cap issues for next season
So they can't take on any significant $$$

nah

so many d men play good enough in their late 30's

give me 5 good years of seabrook and I will worry about years 6 and 7 after we win a cup or 2

It's the 7 more years that makes it an absolute "No" for me
The "sweetener" would have to be Panarin for me to say yes
I wouldn't even do it for a 1st from them

if the hawks retained 25% of seabrook

would you give them bailey, borgen, carrier and 2 seconds for seabrook?

serious question
