Low danger shots occur more often so a goalie that is stronger in that category could potentially have a better overall save percentage than a goalie that is stronger in medium and high danger shots.
- Feds91Stammer

And yet one goalie is not as good as the other one stopping them...

I get what you're saying I am not saying I wouldn't want Lehner to be better at stopping the higher danger shots but I really want to make sure my goalie can stop the more common shots better since they occur more.

Yeah nobody said that. I feel like there is a vast misunderstanding of how percentages work here.
- Feds91Stammer

But that is literally what you are getting at then that Greiss is better than Lehner because he has a higher save percentage in more dangerous areas

WRONG.

I used GSAA because it is a better metric...

Keep thinking Lehner is good.

Ignoring whether he saw him play or not, why not take into consideration that the nature of the Sabres last year make GSAA a weak measurement of Lehner by the posters own admission ...

"GSAA does not take penalty killing into account. On average this season in the NHL, goalies have seen a 4.4% drop in save percentage while on the penalty kill compared to even strength. This is a major problem for some goalies that play for a team that is constantly killing penalties. Undisciplined teams will have goalies with a lower save percentage and a lower GSAA as a result.
It does not take fatigue into account. Saves that are made after the 30 shot mark should be worth more, because goalies that face more shots than the league average will be more tired, and will make less saves due to the poor quality of the team in front of them giving up more scoring attempts.
It also does not take shot quality into account. This can be related to the number of penalties a certain team commits, or even a team’s quality of defence, but that would be very difficult for any statistic to quantify."

I'm withholding hope Lehner can settle down and handle the pressure. It's too frustrating watching him keep the team in it with amazing saves only to let in a floater or not hug the post.
- Shadman306

You mean he's not better than Hasek? How dare he! Every goalie has their weaknesses, Miller couldn't handle far side over the shoulder to save his life.

Of course I would take the 2nd. The 1st for Lehner was one of the worst trades in our franchise's history. Ullmark and Peterson are the future for us, as long as we can get Cal to sign here (which I don't think he will, which also means that he can suck it). That means that we need to find someone else to play along side Linus.

Unless we have a better option available, or he wants huge money there's no reason to trade him. He's an alright goalie

Maybe he caught the tail end of some of our games. The ones that were still tied after OT

I don't think so. He acknowledged them, but seemingly ignored them in almost every move he made

I don't think the cause of death has been determined. He was pulled from the maumee river in Fort Wayne earlier this week.

Edit: confirmed by my wife still under investigation.
