This all seems perfectly reasonable
- eichiefs9
Next person who trades Hayes is getting (frank)ing shanked. |

I'm sure most in here wants him, but not for 7x7...
Are you ok with that? - 21peter
no, I am ok with 7 years, but to me 7 years only to get the cap hit lower, that's the ONLY reason to go 7 years.
front load it a bit, get an average cap hit of 5.7 mil a year and hope his supposed desire to "always be a Ranger" comes to reality

Baldie for a 7th then... - 21peter
Baldie and a 1st might be interesting. Thats my prediction at the draft. I just don't know who for though |

How'd that work out for Washington?
Is he the answer to ALL our issues? I don't believe so. - Tonybere
Shattenkirk is the answer to two of our issues, a right handed shot on the blueline and someone to run this powerplay
the two biggest strengths on this team are both left handed defensemen, McDonagh and Skjei, he fits with either one |

Dont want Lehtonen either... the point is removing Staal and dealing with Kari for only 1 year
The alternative is trading a 1st to Vegas to please take Staal
Make me the GM
I'll getter done

this couldn't be a dumber conversation
the last thing Dallas needs is Rick Nash, the last thing the Rangers need is one of those Dallas goalies - jimbo83
... well ... there may be one dumber conversation (or intimidation) that went on for this past entire season on this site, and still at times now!
No words posted appear to be enough in this case regarding Dallas. |

one can always hope...
Problem is that a couple teams will likely offer him 6.75 - 7.25 per for 6-7 years. |

if he went to Washington and led them to the Cup and did everything he was supposed to, then we'd have no hope.
Because he "failed" in Washington, it's actually a good thing |

Lehtonen's 1 year remaining on his contract at $5.9M is even worse than Niemi's $4.5M. |

It is, but Staal has 4 years left... big downside for Dallas

... and he can be obtained free of any assets to give up.
I've been on the bandwagon here to sign him at age 28 for the same reasons, as well as to allow McDonagh concentrate better defensively and play a few less minutes per game. Unless there is a bidding war that overprices him, or if someone new suddenly becomes available with the exact same qualifications, Shatty for now is their second needed move after re-signing Smith first. You have to accept the weaker defensive part of his game in a case like ours. |

Trade Raanta for an extra 1st
Trade Hayes for Dumba
Ask Staal to waive his NMC and deal him to Dallas for Lehtonen
Ask Nash to waive his NMC and trade him to either Arizona or Carolina for one of there 1st and 2nd round picks, while eating half his cap
Buyout Girardi
Will enable us to protect Lindberg and Fast
Will probably loose Pirri to expansion over Grabner
After expansion draft:
Sign Smith
Resign all RFA's
Trade Holden and Klein for pick(s)
Sign Jumbo Joe Thorton for 1 year deal
Win the freakin Cup

Where do I start
Raanta is probably not gonna fetch a 1st
Staal isn't going to waive his NMC to go to Dallas
Nash with 1 year left on his deal won't get that type of return
All we need to do is swing a side deal with Vegas and Raanta, Lindberg, Fast and Grabner will all be NY Rangers next season

Draisaitl and Trouba better be on it. |

Pionk and Pedrie. Huska was great in college but he is several years away. I believe Shestyorking has two more years in the KHL, as he had signed a three year extension there. The Rangers do have prospects but none of the ones we have discussed are givens, so need to be cautious when dealing. Plus to me, if Kovy wants the $ rumored, that may be the biggest hurdle. - airjan23
Any rumors of possibly trying to sign Radulov instead? |

Isn't Staal's cap hit 5.7? Ironic that some are salivating over the thought of entering into a contract that we will feel exactly the same about 4 years from now. |

Toews as a healthy scratch would be nice insurance. |
