Kane

for

Jake Mussin
Juuso Valimaki (D) (11th overall pick)
Dustin Brown (and his cap hit)

And taking Cale Maker (D) at 8th.

Talk about D problem solved in a couple years for many many years to come!

I hate that Brown contract soooooo much though
Creative idea...
it's worth considering

Me too. But him playing penalty kill (freeing O'Reilly from that, making him more useful) and blocks shots and can help close out games (last minute of 1 goal games). He is tough and physical. He is similar to Kane but Kane has more talent and is younger. They will have similar cap hits at the end of this year.

I hear you, I guess I am just saying you get 70% of Kane and 11th overall pick for the future (sub in talented cheap player, in 2-4 years). That might also make the Muzzin deal go through, instead of not happening. (if you wanted that in the first place)

What 15 teams have open slots where they could protect a defenseman they'd trade for?

Of course everyone wants to improve their defense...
but not that many are actually in position to take advantage of expansion

- jdfitz77

Toronto
Calgary
Vegas (will be trying to work out deals for NHL players)
Colorado
Edmonton
Boston
Detroit
Tampa
Dallas
New Jersey
Ottawa

All will be actively looking for D men

Sammy Watkins (foot) returned to limited practice this week.
The Bills have said Watkins is "on schedule" for training camp, and an OTA return backs up that timeline. Even so, the receiver will almost certainly be babied through camp and the preseason in an effort to keep him healthy when it matters. After Buffalo declined his fifth-year option, Watkins is entering his contract year.

Give him another week, he will be out yet again.

If it wasn't for the duration I'd be more open to it...that is one of the worst long term contracts in the league now. Moulsonesque if you will. Don't think we can entertain those types of trade ideas until a couple of the Ennis/Bogo/Moulson deals are gone. If those three weren't here I'd be all for it, but with Jack/Samson's raises coming down the pipe, gotta pass.

That reminds me. I was at a camping trip this past weekend. Buddy's girlfriend sat around the campfire till 3am arguing with everybody about everything(no drink in hand mind you). At one point it rained for a moment. She then sat there and argued with 4 grown people that it didn't actually rain. Meanwhile her man had been passed out in bed for hours. Fun times.

they had a nice discussion on Maclin the last 2 days on NFL radio

Pat Kirwan is a very bright person with lots of insight.

1. Chiefs did not offer Maclin a lower priced contract, just released hi,

2. What is the market for Maclin in a cap era for teams, obviously much lower than his agent feels.

Maclin wants to be paid a #1 WR, and he is not. Pretty sure Bills offered him #2 wr money, and he is hoping the ravens offer him #1 money.

My guess is it will go back and forth, whoever pays more gets him, and decker and boldin will be there as a second place prize for whichever team loses out.

no he is using it to set his agenda for the moment

years ago he laughed how myers got a norris trophy vote, but it mattered for muzzin

for years 5 on 5 play is the most important thing, yet he dogs kane all the time (racist?)

he always takes the path of stirring the pot instead of bringing information to the table, last night I threw out a handful of names I prefer to muzzin (after saying he is ok) yet no response to this

here is a thought (not directed at you), bring some names to the table that you like

moves that you would make instead of b!tching all the freaking time

I will throw one out there

pick 8 and ROR to the Flyers for pick 2
discuss

- homiedclown

I don't think you give ROR enough credit cause that's an awful trade and I was all over ror this year. Pick #2 in a weak ass draft at the top isn't enough for both him and 8th. I'd like to see them get another top pick next year. That's there best bet at creating a cup contending blue line

I think people over value ROR

he is a number 2 center, not a number 1 center

he has probably peaked

we are not good

it's a cap era, and the kid has more upside and cheaper for the short term

perhaps a competent coach will change my view

I don't hate him, but I don't see him as a solution right now

If we assume improvement of others under a new coach then ROR deserves that chance as well. Perhaps less ice time too but in general he's very good at that #2 spot

Is this the same over-rated ROR who has played for Team Canada on the last 4 opportunties (1 in the World Cup and 3 in the World Championships)? And the coaches from these teams that have raved about ROR?

His driving skills late at night while going through a Tim Horton's drive thru might be over rated. But not his hockey abilities.

He's a 55-65 point player per year, great on the penalty kill, great in his own zone, great on faceoffs, I would like a few more goals per year out of him.

For comparison sake Toews averaged 4 more points per year in the last 4 seasons than O'Reilly...16 total points in 4 years and he makes $3 million more per.

I'd take O'Reilly and his contract over Toews and his all day every day.

Are Kirwan and Tim Ryan still together? If so that's the ONLY reason I'd consider going back to Sirius.

Disco sucks doesn't use him properly

IMO he needs a speedy winger on one side, and a winger to crash the net on the other side

and 18 minutes of ice time, not 22

But that doesn't make him overrated

Him being misused and still producing pretty decently on a team full of deficiencies makes him that much better no?

I would like to see him on the wing the season after next...
