don't know where that Rasmussen kid is projected to go, if he slides a little would like to see them package a lot of the picks (or prospect) they have over the next 2 years and take a shot with him.
They can get back into the 1st round I think with the extra picks they have. |

As you stated Bill, I dont' think HIschier or Patrick is regarded highly enough for any other team to make an offer that Hextall can't refuse. Here is an example of what it would take (for me at least), but I don't see Vancouver doing the deal.
To VAN: the 2nd overall pick, the Flyers 2nd round pick in 2017, Matt Read and Scott Laughton
TO PHL: Vancouvers 1st round pick in 2017 (#5) and Bo Horvat.
The Flyers get a top 6 center who is only 22 and who can be plugged right into the lineup and they still will land a very good prospect with the 5th overall pick. They also unload the last year of Read's deal. Vancouver gets POTENTIALLY a better player than Horvat with the 2nd overall pick, a relatively high 2nd rounder, a decent prospect and a guy who can help out a rebuilding club for one year.
I think Hexy would do this deal in a heartbeat, but Vancouver not so much. - BiggE
I'm not a Horvat fan. Patrick or Hischier could be 1Cs in the long run, I don't see that in Horvat. |

If the Flyers could guarantee Vilardi is going to be there at 4 I might consider this deal.
To Col: #2, Laughton, AMac and Wiese(no money retained)
To Phi: #4, Rantanen
I have no interest in Landeskog and don't want to get involved long term with Duchene while G and Jake are still on the books. |

Would love the FLyers to get the first or second overall pick in a year where there is no doubt about keeping either.
That being said, I would be hesitant to move the second overall.
Imagine either player growing up with what should be a huge influx of young talent over the next few years... |

Like draft AMac and we will send you a 3rd and a 4th? (or maybe a 2nd and our first 4th?)

your getting your wish....the Flyers have a nice stable of quality young D prospects that are about to arrive....Kid's like Konecny and Vecchione can skate. If they stand pat at two....then chances are they will add Hischier who really gets around the ice. - landros 2
good size with a kid like Lindblom and speed with kids like the ones you mentioned. I'm excited about the direction of the team |

Or Patrick and Hischier could end up being 2C's. You just don't know, that's what makes it interesting. Horvat is already a legit 2C, just turned 22, plays in all situations and has both size and speed. Plus, you'd still have the 5th overall pick. I'd do the deal.

I feel the same. I would need a young player who already projects as a surefire 1C coming back. Only 2 players I see there who are currently #2 on their team's depth charts are Nylander and Drasaitl. Sadly, for either of them, the Flyers would have to do the #2 overall pick plus more. |

I know it's preseason but watch the replay of the very first highlight. Myers and sanheim dishing it around at the point until they find an open player. We have serious talent knocking on the door - Just5

I like BoHo a lot, but I don't think Vancouver can afford to let him go. You need at least two top 6 centers going forward, and Henrik will be 37.

Actually the way Bill had it set up is for them to send us PLayer X AND the 4th overall pick in return for our 2 overall pick. - MBFlyerfan
And thats why I think you do it. The lotto shows that no pick is safe, and this is a "weaker" draft. If your the avs you dump Matt duchene, take the sure thing in Nolan or Nico, give us the number 4 pick, and deal with the pick swap next year. |

Wow that's a pretty long time
I guess they have had some lefties with enough skill to play their off side but it has definitely hurt not having a good R shot D |

I personally don't trade the pick, no matter what even. Getting this 2nd pick was a blessing and I just don't think a package will be convincing enough compared to what we could have with either Nico or Nolan down the line. If Giroux is going to continue to decline (personally think he won't) then Nico and Nolan are even more important than any of the suggested trades listed imo. Like Bill said before, with Patrick you have Giroux's replacement as Captain down the line. And with Nico, this is def pre-mature, but he looks like a guy who can run a power play and rack up points similar to Giroux. We debated all season long how we needed that top line center potential prospect and one is falling in our lap later this month. |

I guess it depends what route the Flyers want to go.
If they could make a deal like #2 & AMac for #4 and Duchene I think they would be crazy not to do it. Ditch a bad contract, get a very good 2C and still get a great prospect. Hell, even if it is Landeskog coming back I'd do it.
Hischer and Patrick are not on the level of McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, Laine, etc. Good prospects but I don't know that there is a great separation between them and the guys ranked 3-6. |

Is this the best position we have been in recent memory?
Can't think of a time where we were stocked with home grown D prospects, draft picks galore including a #2 and some decent pros that could be packaged/traded contract etc notwithstanding.

Everything that you said is true, but we'll argue about anything on this site.
I'm totally not into trading this pick. We might actually be looking at a Flyers team with some depth in the coming years, instead of a team compelled to ice five fourth liners every night.

Im with you. I don't think you screw around with the universe and mess up this gift by trading it away. There are 2 players in this draft, and we went from having virtually NO SHOT at either of them, to being guaranteed one of them.
Take whoever NJ doesn't, and play with the plethora of 3rd and 4th round picks we have if you want to visit the candy store again. |
