Too much.

Reino isn't some bust who's peaked already. The kid is, what, 20 or 21? Reino for Trouba is fair, imo.

On most teams he would be moved to the third line. The problem with kane is hes a volume player. Yeah he scored a lot of even strength goals, which is impressive. So did Michael Grabner, you don't see NYR looking at locking him up long term. His career to date with the sabres is half a good season. Thats it. In total he's pushed 50 points what once? 30 goals that one contract year (hello stafford).

Kane shoots at will and was given all kinds of opportunity to score and he did. The problem is at the end of the day hes still a 40 point guy who always finds a way on the shelf and has just as long of a cold streak as a hot one. This isn the guy you give a 6 or 7 year deal to.

Kane got more ice time than he would receive on any contending team and had a shooting percentage about 3.5% higher than his career norm. At the end of the day this is still the same guy who's always good for 20 games injured and 20 games cold where his shots are going high and wide or into the goalie's chest. You don't commit long term to these sorts of players.

Reinhart/Trouba on its own would be fair. Dont know that they're looking for that type of player

Those rose coloured glasses that you are wearing won't make the Sabres any better. Sure, Kane scored 28 goals playing on the #1 line, getting prime time minutes with one of the best young centres in the game. But you fail to mention his career stats. His dismal record at staying healthy. That fact that he has scored 30 goals only once in his career. Let's not mention his off ice issues.

It reminds me of a time I when I was looking at buying a new house. It had a tiny backyard. Of course the real estate agent commented on the fact I would not need to spend to much time mowing the backyard. Always accentuate the positives, never highlight the negatives. NHL GM's are no so easily swayed.

JVR has better numbers and is not a Richard off the ice. But you won't see me thinking the Leafs could get a player like Jake Muzzin straight up for him given his contractual status and the fact good D are at a premium

Right?

If I'm JB, I'm not trading the kid unless it's for a comparable talent on D.

What it boils down to is that some GM will absolutely pay a premium (IN FA, not trade) for Kane. Kane knows this, and so does his agent.

I'd bet money that IF semi healthy, he has another good year, and it will slowly or quickly go downhill shortly after
