Bob McK says:

"I believe Evander Kane will likely be traded.[...] I don't believe he fits into their long term vision, and he might not be the only guy in Buffalo.

I'll be curious to see if Lehners name enters trade conversations. Salary arb and he has a good case to put Lehner well in excess of 4MM dollars a season. I don't know if the new regime believe Lehner is their number one foundation goalie.

I am ready for some moves! Let's make a trade already! Kane, Foligno, Girgensons, Lehner, and Ennis should be gone. (as well as Moulson and Bogo if you can!)

Make a splash as a new GM!

Eff Lemieux.

@TSNBobMcKenzie
Hearing Sabres are forcing the NHL to do a 2014 NHL re-draft. Sabres will take Draisaitl.

Do you trade Kane straight up for #11 if LA offers it?

I didnt know Lehner was arbitration eligible. That makes it a little trickier

Nah just draft at 8 and 11.

Get two very good prospects one D and one forward.

A combo of
Liljegren/Heiskanen
and
Tippett/Rasmussen

Sounds good to me.

I am not sure about this. I want to say yes, but I think that slows up the rebuild more and we need to have players this year. What if you say yes to that deal and then do

#8
#11

for
#2 or #1 overall

Do we do that?

The issue is that I think the teams listening for #1 or #2 picks want players to help now.

rasmussen is a hard no. 65% of his production came from non 5v5 play.

every year theres a guy like that. Crouse, Ritchie, wilson etc. get sucked in by the size and comparison to lucic and ultimately turn into okay bottom 6 forwards

Can take one of makar, liljegren at 8 and then pettersson/andersson at 11. Both look very promising.

Or you could trade down from 11, wind up picking 3 times in the first round

I don't do the second trade I just draft two players with 8 and 11.

Use Bailey or Baptiste in Kanes spot and hope they can score some. I believe Bailey could have success there at a fraction of the cost.

I don't see the Sabres making the playoffs next year unles GMJB can pull off magic with the defense and cap.

I tend to think this would be the better route. As I have heard 3-11 (or was it 15?) are pretty close in value.

Rasmussen and Mittelstadt are the two guys to avoid. The last thing a bad 5v5 team needs is more powerplay reliant players.

I'm least of the middle round picks. The chance of getting a player as good as Kane at 11 is slim

I sort of like the trade down from 11. The question then becomes, would be what you take. Pick 20+ and their first next year? Does any team even have (2) 1st round picks both being after 11th? Otherwise you are looking at a 1st and 2nd. Not sure I do that at all.

If that's how you frame it. I could frame him as the best 5-on-5 goal scorer in the NHL

The last thing you want to do as a GM let alone a new GM is go to arbitration with a goaltender

since january**. you forget he spent the first chunk injured and then was useless for the next 2 months.

He was 16th overall.

side note, Michael Grabner had more even strength goals than connor mcdavid

Thats why i wonder if he's really the guy for the future. If he wants starter money and Botterill is hesitant is he prepared to go to arbitration? I would think like you said hed want to avoid that

id do it. Could get Brannstrom (who could be as good or better than liljegren/makar) and another pretty good prospect in the 2nd round. Maybe even that Oettinger guy (goaltender)

I could easily see him getting awarded $4 million

I do believe it's only for 1 year though with arbitration right?

I don't totally remember how it works
