i still think they take ennis
- Sabresfan-365

Will he even be exposed?
Idk why ppl are assuming he will be
He might...
but it's tough to know who Botterill would prefer between him & Carrier

Even if Ennis is exposed,
I think we'd have to give them something to choose Jim over Ullmark

Up until a few days ago,
I actually though Ullmark would be safe
But after reading that Subban(Bos) would have to clear waivers,
now I'm thinking that Ullmark is the obvious choice to be their AHL goalie

They could choose Korpisalo for the AHL instead...
but that would mean passing on Jack Johnson & a couple decent young forwards from Columbus

if they can find a trade partner then probably not but its not too much term and dollars are less than cap hit. May be worth something to vegas. Or the yotes in a trade

I don't see anyone taking Ennis unless we keep some Salary
And even then... I doubt we'd get anything much back... maybe a 4th?

I think it makes much more sense to see what a healthy (hopefully) Ennis can do under a new coach

If he stinks... we lose a 4th
If he regains form (a good possibility imo)... we could at least get a decent return if we decide to trade him at some point

And McPhee made it seem like teams will have to pay up with high draft picks for Vegas to take on $$$

Probably the same with Arizona
They got Detroit's 1st last year (Chychrun) to take on Datsyuk's contract...
any that was for only 1 year
Btw... I bet Detroit wants that deal back
I sure wish we had made the deal with them instead!

Makes sense to me that if they actually had yo pick, they'd take ulmark. I don't think it'll come to that though. After reading that BN article, I think Botterill and mcphee are going to swing a deal to take someone with a problematic contract. I don't see that person being Ennis

I guess it probably comes down to what McPhee wants to take said bad contract off our hands
I hope that's the case, but I don't wanna give up too much either

I hope you're right. Liked the player when healthy, but the contract and health don't make him worth it.

2 years at 3.6 million (cap hit doesnt matter, they wont be near the ceiling) for one of the few players available that has shown offensive ability.

I think the cap hit is 4.6. 21 goals, and 49 points are career highs. And he's only had 3 healthy years. I don't see him exceeding these numbers. Vegas would be doing us a favor.

The cap hit is 4.6, but it doesnt matter, they will not come close to the ceiling of 70 million plus. Not many players will be available that have put up 49 points in a season. I would guess at most 4 players will be available that have put up more than 49 points (and 4 players could be an overestimation).

To assume 49 points from Enzo next year would be extremely optimistic. I'd much rather see Moulson or Bogo get plucked by Vegas. I don't see that happening though. I doubt they take Ennis either, so this whole thing is probably just an exercise. Would you protect TE in favor of someone like Carrier?

I totally missed that Arizona gave up that much in the trade!
(I was bartending, so I missed the details)

It worked out bc Chychrun is good,
but the Coyotes gave up WAY too much to move up 4 spots!

The 2nd round pick in the deal should've went to Arizona, not Detroit

I like MPS, hes a great skater....but he is shy in all the dirty areas of the ice, including the net. If he can play in your top 9 youre still not a good team.

Ennis has had two terrible seasons in a row
No one still sees Ennis as a 49 point player
Could he get back to that level?
Sure
But no one will pay to take that risk
And to think Vegas will choose that risk while they have safer options seems quite unlikely (unless we give them additional incentive)

They moved up 4 spots to get a top 5 guy and all it cost them was a 2nd round pick. It's not horrible.

If i am Vegas, I am definitely taking one of Carrier or Ulmark over Ennis and his bloated contract. Unless of course JB sweetens the pot for them.

As I said, he would be one of the few players who has shown offsensive abilites. I wouldnt expect him to put up 49 points, I wouldn't expect him to do more than 40. But when you are an expansion team, and your choices are limited, I would take a flyer on him, rather than an AHL goalie, or a 4th line winger.

And I would not protect Ennis over Carrier, but that is because of the cap situation we are in. If Ennis goes to Vegas, and we can ship out one of Moulson or Bogosian, we would be looking pretty good.

If we can somehow shed ourselves of 2 of those 3 contracts (Moulson, Bogo, Ennis), I would personally nominate JB for GM of the year. That would be incredible. I agree, protect Carrier and don't protect Ennis

He turned out to be a top5 guy, so it worked out

Giving up a 2nd and taking Datsyuk's 7.5m capnhit is too much to move from 20 to 16

Let me rephrase that. A top 5 guy who fell. And they didn't expect him to fall much further, certainly not 4 more picks, so they made the trade, gained a favor in the process. 2nd round pick was the price and the favor was Datsyuk. It's not like they didn't really have enough room to take him on for a single year. He barely got them above the floor.

So now, he's got a top 5 talent that fell to him at 16, the guy he wanted to take with the Keller pick, but really couldn't pass on Keller, so he waited and got a steal for the 53rd pick. And a hefty favor From Detroit in Datsyuk's contract. That's a huge win.
