My wife came home early from a business trip last night - caught me banging a hooker in our bedroom.
She was mad until I explained to her that being faithful to a wife is the one thing a husband has no control over. She understood.

Just tell us this: Was the hooker smokin' hot?! |

I miss the Wings in the "Campbell Conference". Never thought I'd say this after watching Detroit beat the poop out of us from 1996-2009. |

I miss the Wings being a powerhouse team. The Wings used to choke in the playoffs like the Caps do now. At least the Wings figured out how to win the Cup 4 times. I miss our rivalry with the Hawks. It's just not the same anymore. |

Not really relevant to these boards, but tanner has your opinion of murray and carlyle changed in any way with the ducks making it to the conference finals? - Johnotron
Murray yes, Carlyle still the worst coach in hockey. |

The Capitals were the best team over the last 164 games - i'd love to hear how they're not.
But that doesn't mean they don't need to make some tweaks - they'll be forced to by free agency.
As for the coach, I just don't like him - his post playoff loss press conference was weak and i'd fire him for it. - James_Tanner
They've been the best team in the regular season. That doesn't make them the best team. The regular season doesn't count as much as the playoffs do. You implicitly acknowledge that when you suggest that you'd fire Trotz for a post-playoff-loss press conference. You can't say something like that and then act like the playoffs are just a crapshoot and not as important as the regular season. Any time that you call them the best team, you should add "in the regular season." Trying to get away with simply calling them the best team, period, doesn't fly. You can try to convince yourself that, but every nearly everyone else knows better. |

Get ready for the spin. Exactly the way it makes most sense for a false narrative.
The rest of us know the best team is the one who hoists the Silver chalice each spring *.
* Except for the 'Hawks in 2013. The lockout and re-scheduled season, along with a six-game final resulted in Jonathon Toews hoisting the cup not until Summer ** that season.
Had to cover on that one. Never know if some "blogger" may take offence.
** Astronomical Summer, that is.
Covering my comment in case the same "blogger" takes offence. |

I really don't see the issue here to be honest. Ovi has been the best goal scorer of his era and more than likely the best of all time.
This year was pretty clear that he was taking it easy all year to save it for the playoffs, then he was playing hurt after this knee on knee from Kadri.
The guy has the ability to put up 50+ goals every year, I say put him in the position to do that. You want the OVI who is the best player in the world, not the one who is saving it for the playoffs.
Caps still have a contending team, keep building and go for a cup again. It's that simple - Maverick1818
First of all in my opinion he is not the best player in the World. Also not the best goal scorer of all time. They need him to be one of the best players in the World in the playoffs. He was not
Not even close.

Because I have been around hockey players and they always say the grinders are way better than you think. So much of what star players do is based on their ability to find open ice.
All I am saying is that when you don't have a 200 lbs defenseman trying to kill you, all NHL players are pretty skilled in the shooting and the passing. I don't think this is would be controversial, but actually pretty obvious. One of my best friends grew up playing on a team with Daniel Carcillo , and even though in the NHL he was a fighter, he was still the best hockey player any of those guys knew. - James_Tanner
This doesn't pass the eye test. Nobody is saying that a player like Beagle.doesnt have any talent. It's being said that his talent and his shot doesnt compare to Ovechkin. |

pretty stupid comment considering two things.
#1. I didn't say best player, I said best goal scorer
#2. Ovi and the team have been very open about him trying to tone it down for the better of the team and saving it for the playoffs. So if you look at years when he has been going at his normal pace. He is absolutely in the running for best player. |

I didn't blame Trotz at all for his shooting percentage going down.
I blame Trotz for taking away 2 minutes of ice-time per game, and for whining at a press conference, but not that.
Your comment is ridiculous. - james_tanner1
_
How is my comment ridiculous? Trotz is not the best coach, but a player of Ovechkins caliber also doesn't need 28 minutes a night to be an absolute terror on the ice. Realistically Ovie needs average top 3 forward ice time with his usual PP time. To think 2 less minutes a game and TJ Oshie scoring basically what you consider to be Ovechkins goals, you're completely out of touch.
1, you do understand that a team must have balanced scoring to succeed, correct?
2, no forward needs 78383773 shots a season and 28+ minutes a night to be effective.
3, a superstar finally committing himself to play a 200ft game instead of floating, waiting for easy pucks to exit the zone and head up the ice is NOT a bad thing at all, when its been a detriment to the team for years from their superstar player.
4, coddling ANY player is the absolute worst thing management and coaching staff can do. The moment a hierarchy is created amongst players for their on-ice contributions and pit falls, you can bet near 100% that the team will never, ever see success. |
