Id go sniffing around #8 in Washington.

Send Seabrook, Panik, DebBrincat, pick to Washington for Ovechkin

Kruger gets dealt....TVR goes to Vegas

Build around a top 6 of X-19-88, 72-15-8 and 2/4 on back end. No picks for Wash until round 4 this year.....

NO idea if that works with cap, but shakes up locker room

I'm gratified most (anyway) of you guys (and girls) agree, and find this fair. Even though I qualified it as "not a fanboy blog" on Twitter, apparently it's upset some people.

Exellent Blog JJ. Should be a very intersting summer. Woudln't shock me at all to see one of Toews or Kane dealt. Just can't have 2 players taking up 21 million of your cap.

Slightly off topic and on minor scale, but I wonder if Desjardins could come back next season. I know he had an off season last year, but he played well before that. He was injured at the start of last season and I wonder if that impacted his year.

Back in 2011 I recall Washington have interest in #7 before he signed his last deal. Believe at the time the return was Brooks Laich+......

If Washington loses Shattenkirk, would make sense.....

I believe 8 in more of a "passenger role" would be light out....no media pressure on leading, etc.

Reunite 19/88 and build around a 3rd line with 81

I'll have to go plug this into the super computer over at capfriendly.......

Love the blog JJ as always. IMO#2 is the worst scenario possible (ie. standing pat and throwing a bunch of un-seasoned rookies to the wolves playing out of position and over their heads....then pray to God you make it past rd 1 of the playoffs). They do that, and Bowman SHOULD be s*** canned at the end of the season next year because a 1 and out is pretty much guaranteed. I have almost 0 faith in Bowman at this point, so if he can pull off #1 I will be greatly impressed. Hell, I'd take #3 at this point over #2, ANYTHING but #2.

I liked him as well....he was versatile.

I would entertain it if the price is right....guy knows his role.

If McPhee, the Caps and the NHL want to make a huge splash somehow Ovi will wind up in Vegas. Can you imagine the initial positive pub with Ovi, Shipachyev and Panarin skating together on one line down Las Vegas Blvd. What would it cost - probably some draft picks for a couple years and some players they grabbed in the expansion draft.

Thx Rio,

Hey, never before has this been more a world where we can read what we want to read and believe what we want to believe.

There are lots of people I don't agree with, those I respect, I will engage in discussion, those I don't, I ignore.

I know some people don't like what I write—no secret—so don't (frank)ing read it!

Pressure, what pressure? Its not only on Stanbo. The more I watch Coach Sullivan guide his injury riddled Penguins this post season, the more you realize he is absolutely turning the screws on Q, Trotz, Boudreau and a few others behind the bench of 'contenders'. Somebody has to be thinking or saying 'Hey Coach, why aren't you getting as much out of your team?

Sure helps to have great goaltending and #'s 87 and 71 and a deep farm of young guys that perform under pressure.

- RickJ

Ya, I think Q's pressure starts in September and October, though. Point taken regardless.

He was probably the toughest guy in all of junior and since his draft year got a lot better offensively a steal for the kings for a 7th rd pick if I was the hawks I would have gone as high as a 5th maybe a 4th. The lightning were up against the limit with contracts but they really need toughness I think it was a pretty dumb decision on there part especially if they don't resign witowski

The Q - StanBo relationship dynamic is an interesting storyline, especially if their fates are tied together, which it seems like they are. I don't think Q has been happy with the roster for the last couple of seasons, probably before then too. Not saying that Q should be in charge of the roster but I don't think he's been happy with what he's had to work with. If Q wants to stay, I'd imagine he'll be pretty vocal around the FO this summer. Stan might not like what he has to say.

Considering the caps wouldn't want seabrook they already have orpik on a bad deal at least orpik is physical I can't remember seabrook having any big hits last year are whole team past up hits besides panik especially the d. The only team out east who might want seabrook is Philly to help with there young d men. And with his no trade clause it limits it to van EDM cal and maybe lv

good lord. that would be quite the splash. getting the most prolific scorer of this generation.

pittsburgh has three monster contracts with sid, geno, and phil. hawks would have kane, toews, and ovi. would be very interesting. would be curious to see if they moved seabrook or hjalmarsson in a deal like that.
